Yeah, I was just joking around. I hope she does too. She wants to try the BSA Sweet 6.5 CM scope for simplicity. Any of you know how well the Sweet scopes work? The 6.5 CM version has 3 turrets, 120gr, 129gr, and 140gr.
She deserves better than bsa, will it work? How long will it work? How bad is the glass?
I wil wager she is smart enough to figure out the dials or a bdc reticle.
Maybe im being a hater now but there are better scopes out there than bsa. Sightron and Vortex have workt well for me as long as you torque the rings right, go at least diamondback with the Vortex.

She ran across it on ebay, is why she wants it. If she takes to shooting, I will get her a better rifle. It has glass on it, but it's so cheap it doesn't even tell what country it was made in. The reason for the BSA was she doesn't want to spend much on it until she knows she is going to like it. It blew my mind when I seen her watching videos with Ryan Cleckner in it, learning about shooting rifles lol
Edit: Oh yeah, she is a lot smarter than I am. Shes a college edumacated nurse.
Soundls like she WILL figure it out and she will only be out less thana C note with the bsa

Don't count out some of the top quality Bushnell optics,,, whoops,,, did I just say that with my out side voice... Ha
They make 3 different line ups of them in quality to costs,,, for a few more bucks you might find a life time warranty Leopold,,, I have a new 3x9 L that came in at $300 ish Cnd funds... $220 Usd...
Its pretty plain-jain,,, it holds zero and gets things done on the hunting grounds,,, to bad it didn't come with the BDC retrical like the Nikon optics...

What would you rate my Bushnell Elite 4200 Tactical, 6-24x50 ? At first I thought it was junk, a cheap copy because I couldn't find the name or numbers on it. Turns out the Tactical version has "faded" Numbers and letters. In the sun you can see the Bushnell Elite 4200 on it. So what's your verdict?

I can't say since I haven't used that model,,, but I enjoyed using my friends Elite 6500,,, pretty clear glass and easy to see the cross hairs... He had the range finding reticle in FFP in it for fast ranging...

Most of my optics are 3x15's,,, since I spend alot of time in the 100 to 600 metres,,, I use them past that distance as well,,, I have 2 other optics in the 24 power range,,, but normally I have them dialed in around the 12 power setting...
My nephew is going the Bushnell route for his 204 Coyote rifle this winter...
At least the price point is good and Bushnell looks after thier customers...
Optics are pricey up here above the 49th,,, so it's nice to options on what we want to spend...
The glass I have at this moment is 7 Leopolds,,, 1 Nikon,,, 1 Sightron which is super clear glass,,, and a real old Bushnell Banner that's still working after 20 years...
There's lots of folks that wouldn't own a Bushnell optic since they don't messure up to the top teir quality... I get that in folks since each person has thier price points...
But there's option out there that won't break the bank,,, I like the old saying,, spend what we can afford and use the left over funds to enjoy the new hobby outdoors... The word frugal with in my budget comes to mind...

Working at my friends gun shop, I got to see a lot of people buying rifles and scopes. I always told them their scope should cost 1.5 times as much as the rifle. Obviously, this was just a base for a ball park figure.

I have a BSA sweet 17 scope and while they do work I really don't think the glass is good enough to need a bdc reticle on a creedmore. Sure you can see a target but it's worth it to buy something that doesn't make your eyes tired as quickly, especially for new shooters.
My opinion is based on a 2-7x32 sweet 17 and it's not a bad piece of hardware but I'm trying to decide what will replace it because it's the only reason I don't shoot that gun more often.

I used to have a Bushnell Trophy 6-18x40 that I used on everything as a "load work's scope. It worked great, and never failed. I've never used a BSA, so that's why I mentioned it. We dont even know if shes going to stick with it, yet.

Yuppers,,, there are alot of optics too choose from...
I hope Nikon doesn't pull out of the rifle optics,,, I my self would not hesitate to jump onto the Bushnell line up...
There are lots of high end optics that I like to own,,, but the mid price category has done me well...
Hopefully Sightron comes out with more FFP optics in the years to come...
I'm impressed with the glass in their optics less the short warranty stuff...

I had a Zeiss Conquest Target 3.5-10x44. That thing was the definition of CLEAR. It was incredible. I've never looked through a money pit Leupold that even came close.

Everyone seems to talk smack on nikon, I've got 2 prostaff scopes and while they are not long range glass they do quite well for things under 200 yds. They hold zero well and have bdc reticles so I never tried a tracking test. For $150 you can get the 4-12 with bdc reticle off Amazon. If I wanted a good starter scope that would be high on my list with the vortex diamondback and leupold vx freedom being the next higher price bumps
