Going to try the Buffalo Bore 220 gr in my Glock. next yr going to Wyoming and will be packing it. Looking for a respectable handload since I have not reloaded in awhile. Do the 10mm Glock prefer any brass brand over another ? Thank you. Ed

Are you going to be using the 10MM to hunt bear or just as an incase one tries to eat you dissuader? I know that you can shoot a few cast bullets in Glocks before cleaning with no problem but Glock recommends not shooting cast bullets with their barrels. Using it as a dissuader I know people that load a mix of full house (Blue Dot) loaded 180-200 gr fmj or the Hornady 200 HAP and jhp Speer Gold Dot or Hornady XTP. FMJ or HAP for first round then alternated jhp and fmj. Where I hunt in the mountains of TN we have lots of black bears and while bow hunting if you have a handgun carry permit you can carry a pistol for protection. I carry a Ruger Black Hawk 51/2" 45 Colt loaded with 300 gr Speer JSP doing between 1000 and 1100 fps. I made me a shoulder holster using nylon back pack straps that I got at Walmart. I attached one to use as an around the waste belt and one used bandolero style that can be adjusted so as to allow me to wear it on the outside of any clothing for quick access. It pays to be ready for the worst. One fellow in our group had a BIG bore bear take a deer away from him two years ago. He shot it with a bow and heard it crash not 60 yards from him. Before he could get his stuff together and get out of the stand and get to the deer the bear was there and literally picked the deer completely off the ground holding it in it's mouth and walked off with it.

As far as I know WY G&F do not recognize the 10mm as a hunting round but does state a 500 foot pound at hundred yards retirement.
You can easily get there with 6" barrel and 200 grainers but tricky with a 5" barrel. I just verly get there with 200 grainers and longshot powder.
Can not help with a Glock question as I own everything buta Glock

morning, the 10mm with cast bullets will b fine. I have
never heard not to shoot cast bullets. any of the big boomers
u have to clean the barrel more with cast bullets depending
on the amount of tin the producer puts in the bullets.
u r not hunting bears. this is a backup for I hope not
emergencies. people say use the big boomers.
one thing to remember. the recoil and recover time
between shots. I pity anybody-thing shot with the 10mm
glock or otherwise. I own 3 10mm's. would not
trade any of these very good shooters.
justme gbot tum

Use the Buffalo Bore or Underwood heavy hard cast ammo . Keep the barrel clean and you'll be fine. If you're concerned, slap a KKM barrel in it and rock on .

Unless you're going to be shooting a ton it doesn't make sense to hand load considering the quality 10mm ammo available today. A G20 is a great choice, it's also my EDC and nightstand pistol .

I am only using it as a defense round while on an Elk hunt. I will be in the area where the guide was mauled last year. Heard a lot of guides carry the 10mm now. And that Buffalo Bore hard cast was the one to use.

Great post and good timing. My son is getting stationed in Alaska and my carry pistol while visiting on hunts and fishing with him will be a Glock 10mm with a KKM barrel.

Still shopping for commercial loads to help if something bumps into us.

Can't say for the bigger grizzlies but on black bears the 10 mm does a number for sure. Saw a good sized boar last year that instead of running decided to stand his ground and fight the hounds. The guy that we were hunting with hit him 6 of 7 shots . The fight was outta him after the first one but the rest were just to be sure. That bear dressed 245lbs . So not grizzly size but pretty decent

Use that then, I know that's what I carry. Not a Glock but buffalo bore. I haven't started reloading for mine yet, though I will. I live really close to Rim Rock Bullets so that's what I'll be using. 220gr, I'm not sure what powder yet. Good luck and stay safe.

You should be fine with the 10mm, Sig makes some potent 180gr FMJ & JHP ammo now, worth taking a look at. The one advantage is you have 15 rounds at your disposal if the situation deems it necessary, hopefully it just be added weight to carry around and it's never needed. Buffalo Bore, Grizzly, HSM all make a decent backwoods load. I would throw in DoubleTap, but not sure if they're in business anymore.

Glock M40 10mm is what I carried to Alaska with Underwood hard cast loads (in a very comfortable Kenai chest holster). I was surprised when I stopped in a gun shop in Kenai they had a large selection of 10mm in stock. Including Buffalo Bore and Underwood.
