7 mm magun and 168 berger bullet

I used IMR 7828 and was getting 3150 fps @ 80 degrees. Temp sensitive but manageable. H1000 would not get the same velocity.

In that rifle, H1000 and IMR 7828 were about the same accuracy. <3/4" at 100 yards.

I have shot 168 berger's exclusively out of a 28" Lilja barreled Remington for over 12 years. Using reloaded 22 I have been able to easily obtain 3050 FPS. Groups are always sub MOA when I do my part. This bullet out of my 7mm has been nothing short of devastating. I hate waste created by poor shot placement or explosive bullets. I realize that Berger's may be some of the most explosive, but they leave all of their energy in the middle of the animal. This eliminates off side damage and causes instant death many times. Moose, elk and deer have succumbed to 168 Berger's out of my 7mm magnum

I'm looking to load some 168 vld's in my 7 mag as well but I was looking @ magnum powder or possibly the re-25.
I have used reloaded 25 quite a bit when roadin Berger 168's. I was able to achieve sub Moa loads pretty easily. I can give you load specifics if you like.

I've shot elk out to 340 yards, deer, javelina, Aoudads, all using the 168 VLD hunting bullet at 2750 out of my 23" barreled 7mm WSM. One of the sheep made it 40 yards or so. Nothing else made it more than 5 yards. Most died in their tracks. Love the accuracy, and the terminal effects.

does any one know the loads that gunwerks was shooting in there 7 mm remington magnum and the 168 grain berger vld bullets.i thought they used h1000 or returbo but was not sure.thanks for your time.

70.7 grains of H1000 with a CCI250 with a 168 Berger VLD in Win brass was/is the standard load. You'll have to run a seating depth test to get the most out of it. The 7RMs I've worked with either came in at .020" or .070" off the lands for the 168 VLD.

How is the accuracy with the 7828 and 168's?

I loaded 7828 in an APR built 7rm with great accuracy and velocity. I didn't care for it's temp sensitivity so I moved to H1000 and like many hit a great node at 3050 from a 26 in tube. Mine was at 70.3 and .015 off the lands. Work up carefully but 70.5 + or - just a bit tends to be a sweet spot with this combo.

I worked up a load that shot .5 moa to 600 yards in 35 rounds.

In my 7mag I'm using 70.3 grains H1000 with 168 Berger classic hunters .060 off lands at sub 1/2 inch groups. Great combo.
