Browning barrel thread

The few models that explicitly say "suppressor ready" on their site are 5/8-24. The others (e.g. the Hells Canyon Speed) are 13x1.25mm.

I know. Drives me batty too.

If I'm polite enough to put a muffler on my car, why wouldn't I put one on my gun?

I called Browning today and they confirmed that for a Hells Canyon Speed in 300 win mag the thread is M13 x .75. Problem is they do not stock the thread protector and according to their parts dept, they have never brought any in. They recommended Brownells but they too do not stock that thread size. Does anyone know where I might find one?

I just emailed longriflesinc.com. I did find an adaptor to 5/8 x 24 which I can then get a thread protector for but would prefer to just find a thread protector. I have several Browning rifles and have to say I am more than a bit disappointed that they have never stocked this thread protector even though it is shipped with new rifles. Will keep the thread up to date with my findings.

Wow, thought all of them were 5/8x24-- I have an xbolt lr stalker and its 5/8-- chitty they are using multiple threads and not noting what size in the rifle descriptions

Correct, I've had to call because they don't list it. I'm a little disappointed too. But then again I'm disappointed in general in their customer service.

The non-"LR" rifles' barrels' outside diameters aren't big enough for the 5/8" thread major diameter.

mine is 5/8-24 so thats odd

Makes me think that maybe they switched all their rifles to a standard thread pitch. They already got into the game late with threaded factory rifles it was stupid not go with what is main stream.

It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
