Been in denial, but I finally put a bore scope down the 28 Nosler and it's fire cracked with 150 shots +/- 10 unaccounted for! The throat is alright, it groups well, I was getting pressure spike issues out of now where with tested loads? That's why cleaned it up and scoped it to see the inside. This is a chromoly steel 26" varmint weight. I adamant about doing only doing 3-4 shot strings within a 20-30 minute window.

Thats severe for that round count, mine is just shy of 400 and not that bad on a stainless Rock. I've ran it hard too. I do lap the throat with KG bore polish to keep the throat in good shape.

Clean it up with some Tubbs TMS bullets before it gets worse.

Really,"rule 4"?! I wasn't bashing or trashing, I love 28 Nosler! I'm just putting information out there, on what it does to chromoly steel. My next will be stainless like most of my barrels.

Here I was really close to buying a 26 nosler... yikes.

Thanks for the pics, hope your pressure issues settle down for a bit

Yeah no. My opinion, does more bad than good.
I'm gonna shoot this until it gives turkey choke patterns @100, like my 7STW did, at it end of it's life!
I don't remember my old STW being like this. I shot it a lot and then sold it. They are a different version of the same thing. I'm a Tubbs fan though...

You can really get better quality of life by a little polish on the throat, it keeps it from getting spikey and let's it kinda just wash out, I'll see heavy fire cracking but it stays smooth and stable till I have lost a couple hundy fps and get tired of the barrel, often times they don't loose the accuracy keeping it smooth.

Ouch. I was thinking about building one but I may go with my other plans of a 30 nosler or 338 ultra
