Anyone using the 200 gr eldx in a 300 win mag? If so what load and seating depth does it like? I just got a box to try out. Thanks in advance!

Im going to start with a seating depth test. Trying .020, .050, .090, and .120. Starting at 69gr of h4831sc. We will see

Mine are jumping about a half mile in my win mag and shoot great. Haven't actually measured them, as I started at mag length and went in, but the throat in this factory barrel is LONG!

Would you guys say that the factory precision hunter in the eldx .300 win are a good off the shelf cartridge. I've tried barns x Berger's Winchester's, and the only rounds I can get to shoot without fail out of my high country are the precision hunter line. How well does this bullet react on impact

Factory ammo is a guessing game. One might shoot well in your rifle and not in another vise versa. It's all about if that load happens to be tuned decent to your rifle. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes not. It's a decent bullet and has taken a lot of game. I've killed a few mulies with the 143 eldx and they performed good.

Ok so just shot my seating depth test. Shot it at 69 gr with h4831sc. I haven't done any load development with this barrel bullet prior to this. Shot 4 shot groups. My best seating depth was .020 and it shot a 1.3" at 100 group. All the way out to .090 it was about the same with only being a few tenths bigger in group size. 0.130 opened way up. Velocity was right around 2890. Many of these groups would have been in the .6-.8 range with only 3 shots.

I'm going to load up 69.5-73 gr in half grain increases. I'm hoping that 69 was just outside of a node. We will see. Must be a half minute load for me to use it.

A change in powder weight will show more dramatic changes in group size. In my 308 they only shoot slightly better at .015" jump vs seated at mag length with a big jump and same amount of powder

I'm experimenting with doing a rough seating depth test first and now that I've done it I'll shoot a ocw test. And then once I find that I'll try fine tuning the seating depth of need be but I honestly don't see it changing anything too much. Luckily I can seat these wherever I want in my particular rifle. It was throated for 215 Berger's but doesn't shoot them very well.
