Looking to shoot 180 grain pills out of 28" barrel.
Was going to see what the consensus was.

Reloader 22 has been my go to powder w/300 win mag's.

Very temp sensitive but I have found it to be very user friendly when finding a load. Good velocity to boot.

With 180 gr bullets I always found that IMR 7828 was the ticket, that is till I tried RL-26. Great accuracy and gained about 85 ft/sec. Only problem is to find some.

My 300 w/mag sports a 28 inch bbl,180 Sierra spz's low 3100 easy ,H1000,....1/10 twist cheers , are you a Newbie or Seasoned reloader with yrs behind you .

I used RL26 with 215gn Bergers at about 3050fps but just recently ran out of them. They shot extremely well through a PacNor 28", 1-9t barrel. I was using 75gn's with a BR2 primer and OAL of 3.7350". Base to ogive works out to 2.9720" (if I'm reading my notes right).
I did try a couple 3 shot groups using the 212gn ELD-X while developing the load for the Bergers and they shot just as good if not better. Groups were one ragged hole with both bullets but the ES/SD was lower for the Hornady's, same case, powder load and primer. I could tell by the way the ELD's were chambering though that they were getting jammed but the numbers (ES/SD) were in the single digits!
Doesn't hurt that I just bought 4 boxes of 212's and a box of 200gn -X's from a friend for $80! He got them for his Bergara .30-06 but said they kicked too bad. You know I ragged him about that (after the deal of course).
In the past, shooting 180-190's, I've had good luck with RL22, IMR 7828, H1000 and IMR4831. All were good but I'd give the accuracy edge to H1000 (especially with 190gn SMK's) in my rifle, which was a stock Savage 112BVSS.
