Replacement for Retumbo - 28 Nosler

i am going to start working up loads for my custom 28 Nosler and was planning on using Retumbo. Since there appears to be a Retumbo shortage, what would you guys recommend as a replacement powder. Here's some info about my gun / load:

Rem 700 with a 26" Benchmark 1-8.5
KRG Stock with 300 RUM Mags
Bertram Brass
175 ELDX

I will be Elk hunting at 4000 - 7000 ft

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would have chosen H1000 over Retumbo in the first place.

I am doing the same exercise now working up a second load for my 28.

Running 80g of N570 with 195 Bergers but I only have a few pounds of N570 left and based on the length of my last backorder I am saving it.

Swapping over to the 168 LRX and my H1000 was just delivered today so will likely start load development there. Gives me a bit more flexibility so I am not shut down if one powder becomes short again.

I appreciate the advice. I was originally having an issue finding H1000 which is why I was planning to use Retumbo. That was a few months back. So now that I can get H1000 I will probably start there.

Has anyone tried H50BMG in the 28N? That powder is never out of stock.

Unfortunately, the good powders are all back ordered. Check your local gun store and maybe get lucky. Happens quite often. IMR7828 works and will be available, just temp sensitive more so than the ones recommended.

N570 was just released last month and was readily available most places for about a week. Ryan Pierce is probably the best known for the 28 Nosler and he has tried all the powders......AND he only now recommends N570.....this is after EXTENSIVE testing.

According to Hogdon IMR 8133 is the burn speed equivalent to Retumbo.

The more I look at IMR 8133 the better it looks. I may try it out, especially if H1000 ends up being out of stock tomorrow.

N570 reigns supreme and it appears people have trouble shooting decent groups with 8133, but I personally have no experience. Curious how it works out for you.

I guess I am going back to my handloads with IMR 7828 SC for the 300 Weatherby
