Hello,
I seen a little reference to loading Hornady .309 90 grain xtp bullets in 300 blk for suppressed varmit and small animal loads? They say the bullets still expand at low speeds due to pistol bullet design. Anyone trying this? So far I found one article that said 5 gr. Trail boss powder c.o.l. 1.85" no crimp. Still waiting on suppressors but if this works would make a cheap round.

I think this would be fine. The loads I've seen were for 4.5 grains and 4.8 grains of Trail Boss and the 90gr XTP bullets, but I'm certain 5.0 grains would not be 'too much' as it's Trail Boss, so you'd have to work really hard to blow yourself up.

I'm looking forward to your shooting report on this load.

One thing I have not seen any where is whether they are running these through a .308 sizing die or just shooting at the .309 size? I sent an email to Hornady techs but component are on their way!

No sizing necessary. I run mine with 4.6gn trailboss, can't remember what the coal ended up being but they're definitely short.

Ok thank you, if you get a chance can you post c.o.a.l. please I have seen varying opinions on that.

When I get home today I'll check my notes for you.

Looks like I loaded them to 1.735" coal. My notes show 4.5gn and 4.6gn had decent accuracy.
