Opinoin of Vortex Optics

I try not to be a "supporter" on any product.I have currently 4 Vipers of various configurations and a Diamondback Tactical on my coyote AR, plus a set of Binos. One scope needed repair and the binos needed fixing after being abused by me. This is over a 20 year period of fairly hard use. I will probably try something else for my next rifle just to see how the vipers compare to the high dollar glass. Then I will decide for myself.
I am a supporter! Of scopes that track well, have good high quality glass, and non mushy turrets! I don't care who's name is on the side.

I have had several of them, mostly vipers, psts, hst, diamondback hps etc and never had an issue. Their customer service is top notch. I have sent stuff back that was damaged due to my own stupidy or just dumb luck (horse rolling down a hill with my gun strapped to it) and they replace it no questions asked. You really can't go wrong - i have seen lots of scopes fail in the field, even a nightforce...crap happens. Every single one of mine has been machanically sound and tracks perfectish (they aren't tangent theta, but neither is S&B or nightforce).

Vortex diamondback II objective lens literally fell out.

No issues with the AMG or Razor. Although that ugly purple color of the Razor needs to be covered by vortex's warranty.

Lol

I have to agree with Figjam...
I have had GREAT luck with four Viper Vortex 4-16 X 44 HS-T scopes on Sako 85 in .260 Rem, Weatherby Camilla in 7mm-08, Fierce CT Edge in 7mm-08, and Weatherby Mark V in .300 Wby Mag. The optics are bight and clean as my Leopolds and German optics and the BDC tracks great. I also have a Viper Vortex 2-7 x 35 on my Sako 85 in .375 and I like that one too.Took the Camilla, Sako 85 (in .375) Mk V to Africa a couple of weeks a go and went 6 for 6 one shot kills on Plains/Dangerous game.
I have a Vortex spotting scope that is the best I've ever owned and a couple of pair o great binoculars. I am not averse to paying top $$$ for top end piece of equipment I "must have" but I prefer bang for your buck. In my mind Vortex Optics are better than bang for your buck. My wife lost her scope caps right before leaving on the Africa trip so I called Vortex to order a new one. They sent me one for free overnight. Judging from all the negative comments here I must be the luckiest Vortex consumer on the planet. NO, I do not work for Vortex:)!...but I do wholeheartedly recommend their product.

I agree brother it don't match anything! Why couldn't they simply make it black?

I would steer clear of vortex. I currently have 2 pst scopes a gen1 and a gen2. Gen1 had to go in for repair due to seeing black specks when looking through the scope. My gen2 is actually at vortex right now after something in the optical end coming loose and cause my groups to open up after less than 100 rounds from a 13lbs creed with a brake. Great warranty and customer service but I dont like my scopes breaking. Gen2 pst is a great scope.

I really know nothing about this company; their site is a bit vague but they seem to have some higher end products. What do you all think of their stuff? Where is it manufactured?
I love Vortx! Crystal clear sight pictures and lifetime warrantee at less than 60% of their competition. That's my two cents

It's a sick looking scope. It just screams tough. I agree matte black would've made that scope look way better.

The AMG has the same quality as the Razor but the glass quality is insane. First time looking through a scope and noticing it's glass brightness and contrast.

Everyone has different expectations of scopes and everyone treats their gear different. To me a scope is a tool and first thing done when I get one is it goes to the range for zeroing, then box tests and then to the LR to stretch its legs. On first trip I pay close attention to actual adjustment vs what it's supposed to adjust per click. Then on the LR it's steel from 300-to 1270 and it's about 2-3 hours of initial cranking crap out of turrets back and fourth. Then do little things like crank all way back down to zero and then back up to adjustment. I try to induce failures. I have broken swaro, vortex, NF, Steiners and Schmidt's. If u got a scope that works for your needs who cares who makes it! People think I am dumb for letting all my rifles ride in the bed of the truck in drag bags on crap roads for the ride to the range. I am like why? If it can't handle a little bumpy road and hold zero, I don't want it! Happy shooting!

Everyone talks about their warranty. I had a failure with their razor binos and I will say it was my fault, but according to their warranty does not matter. Well anyhow I did not get very much satisfaction from them and pretty much got told to pound sand. Sold every Vortex I had and will not even recommend them to be used as a hammer.

Not a supporter of Vortex but not a hater either. I've worked up through the Vortex lines over the years starting with crossfires, then viper, then PST, now Razor. There are several other companies that have life time warranties now and I'll say that is probably thanks to Vortex.

With that said what I do these days is I stick ziess for my simple point blank hunting rifles. Its just hard to beat the glass for the price in the lower magnification. For my tactical rigs we are moving from PST(s) to Razor(s) and I think I'll be happy there for quite some time. I'm sure I'll have to try a Nightforce or March or some other 2000+ scope eventually just because.

Crossfires, I've broken 2 of them 2 times on a Rem700 SPS Tactical .308 due to shooting volume. This gun saw thousands of rounds and in time the crosshairs came loose on the inside. Eventually we put the crossfires on .223 until they were sold. I actually liked the scopes for cheap scopes and didn't expect them to perform at dawn.

The viper(s) we put on the .223 only saw about 500 rounds, definitely a step up from crossfires. About twice as good for twice the price, go figure. I liked how these felt to look through because it didn't feel like I was looking thru a straw. Might be due to the 40mm objective?

On the tacticals we started with SWFA fixed power scopes and to be honest for day time shooting I still really like them. I like the reticle and I like the eyebox. BUT this isn't about SWFA now is it. We moved up to Vortex PST gen1 scopes. I don't love the PST gen1 because they have limited adjustability compared to the SWFA so a 20moa rail was needed to get out there past 1000. The gen1 PST does have the looking through a straw going on a little bit. (they fixed this in the gen2). The PST(s) are now going on 500+ rounds and still track well and hold zero. (6.5cm & .308) One note is that you must be careful to follow torque specs because the tubes are not ultra heavy duty. One of our PST scopes we bought used and the previous owner put a level on it, over tightened, crushed the tube enough to mess up the elevator mechanism. Vortex took it back, fixed it and we have been happy ever since. Vortex also told me how to get the spray paint off the scope wo/screwing it up, I really thought that would void the warranty. It did not. As a side note the Gen2 PST(s) are FAR superior to the gen1 because they took several of the razor features and put them into them. The eyebox is much improved along with other things.

On the long range tacticals for shooting 1400-2500 yards we have gone to using gen1 Vortex Razor(s) on a hot 7mag & 300prc. (only about 300 rounds though the 7mag) These are heavy scopes but they have more adjustment by far and I like everything about them better than the PST. They have zero stop, they track well, they have not been broken yet and the eyebox doesn't have any resemblance of looking through a staw. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another razor used but brand new they are really close in price to other high end scopes that it is just time to try. Really once you are spending 2000 bucks how hard is it to justify 2400 and just wait a little longer to save up? Buy once, cry once.

I have had great success with all my Vortex products. Absolutely love my Vortex Talon Binos and they replaced a pair of Leupold binos that I liked. My eyes suck but the clarity and adjustments help me see very well. I have a viper pst gen 1 that has been great with my limited use. Still learning. I have a crossfire on my ar that's been great as well. I feel for the price point you get a great product. They definitely aren't NF but they are good and have taken the abuse I've given and my dad has given on the Vortex stuff he has. He doesn't baby his gear either.
