6.5 bullets for fox at long distances

hello
I currently have a rifle 22-250 for varmint, foxes, etc.It has a twist 1:14 and shot sierra blitzking
50 gr.
I'm thinking of buying another rifle to make longer shots.
My idea is a bergara hmr 6.5 creedmoor or something similar.

my question is:
Do bullets of 140 gr expand well in the body of a fox, at distances of 600, 700, 800 yards?

My experience, it would cause too much damage. I'd lean closer to a 100-120gr bullet with a good B.C. At those distances. If you just wanna shoot then and don't care about the pelt the ELD-x will do just fine. If your sold on the bullet weight might wanna try the ELD-m.

I use 143 ELDx on coyotes, it makes a 1.5-2" hole off side very consistently. I've found, but the eldx will definitely expand even on a fox.
I think a 6mm is what your wanting for those ranges. A 105 Berger or 108eldm would work nicely at those ranges on fox

I use the 140 eld-m. Makes a mess out of coyotes. While the 6.5mm is a great coyote/fox round, you may want to look at the 6mm as well. Coyotes or fox dont give you a heck of alot of time sometimes to dial and shoot so flatter shooting may help some. Wind is another consideration as well. In general the 6.5s will drift less with the exception of one or 2 bullets. I dont think either is the wrong answer. I shoot 6.5 just because that's what I've always shot and I know the 6.5 very well. 6mm does have less recoil to spot your own hits better which could be another advantage.

Most of my experience with a 6.5 bullet in coyotes is with my buddies 6.5cm with 143 eldx. Honestly hitting a 10-15lb animal with that is going to kill them. However The bullets have behaved rather unpredictabily in coyotes. Everything from total failure requiring a follow up shot to leaving 6 inch exits. Shot distances from 60-500 yards. I would look at a 243 or 6cm or something along those lines loaded with the most frangible high BC I could find.

If you don't care about the pelt why not use a 95 grain V max? That thing should move over 3000 FPS and hit like a freight train. I don't have experience on foxes and could be off. But I shoot tons of V max bullets and would be shocked if they didn't do an awesome job.

What do you think of the savage 110 tactical desert?
has a 26 "barrel and 1: 7.5 twist to shoot heavy bullets.

I look for a bullet with high bc and be able to shoot at short and long distance with the same bullet

That makes sense. I use a 243 AI with 87 grain V max to shoot prairie dogs. I am able to take them pretty consistently out to 600 yards. Maybe the 6mm Creed will work great for you.

at 1400 yards Any 6.5 is not going to be fur friendly.
