Trigger magazine: 25 creedmoor - ultimate hybrid or ballistic bastard?

We will definitely release our version of a Blackjack 284 when we get two more 257s out into the market to get 25 Cal back on it's feet. My Partner just mentioned his surprising level of anticipation for it when we were on the phone a few minutes ago in a different conversation. : )

That's likely a couple years out since we will have our three 257's, and then a lot of savings will go toward the Blackjack Cartridge which will require a lot to launch it as big and accessibly as we plan to.
Will you be releasing any 6.5mm Black Jack's? Would love to see your design on a 150+ class projectile.

Not in the near future, we are going to focus on getting .257's back to the mainstream market by making them outperform the 6.5's. The 6.5 market already has a good selection of bullets, not that they can't be improved but it will be less of an improvement than that of what we can do with the .257's. The 131's fly great and pack a punch when they get to their destination. We are very happy with the direction we are headed but by no means complacent!

I said that was one of best parts about the article - the author threw a wide net for all kinds of shooters.

The best part was when the author stated that the 25 Creed outperforms the most popular cartridge, the 6.5 creedmoor (even with uncorrected 0.351 G7 referenced for the 0.335 G7 147 ELD M), and one of the most popular PRS cartridges the 6 Creedmoor (although I would say the 6 Creed fits PRS Style matches very well despite the barrel life while the 25 Creed will hunt a little better with more energy).

Also, the part when he reiterated what has been found with every report coming back from the field - 0.330 G7 is conservative - 0.5 mils at 1037 yds in his situation. We have heard this from a lot of shooters. Oehler 89 will be here in a couple of months and we will publish testing from different types of barrels and speeds.

I don't think about shooting light-for-caliber bullets like the ones shown above, so I was glad he included them. We get a lot of questions about this but I don't have the time to test 20 different bullets/powders of similar performance for load data.

Some guys don't mind starting on their own but the gross % of guys need reference data and most often with the exact cartridge and powder listed.
What .330 G7 bullet are you talking about?
Edit- never mind, went to the other thread . Thanks mtrifleman for posting the URL.

@Blackjack Bullets: I'm seeing a wide range of bushing dies for 25 Creedmoor and it's .290 chamber neck. Now that I have a barrel in the works, what's best for what brass? I have .286", .287" on the way and a .284" ready to order for Peterson, Hornady and Starline 6.5 brass. Did my math and waiting for the bushings, to get this project rollin'!

0.282-0.283 is the best starting bushings for lapua. There will be headstamped 25 Creedmoor brass hitting the market very soon!

I don't have any Lapua, when Peterson and Starline give great performance and longevity, at a better price.
Who'll be the brass manufacture, if you can give that information, that is, at this time?

Do not overlook Alpha brass! My 6mm CM brass is **** near perfect.

just saw the facebook page, looks like the first premium 25 creedmoor brass is coming from ALPHA. wish it would have gotten here sooner. I'll have to keep it in mind when the 500 starline I have kick the bucket
Can you return them?? Real question.

unlikely, I'm 200rds in with 300 already sized and primed ready to load. So far so good, the starline SRP with CCI450's is able to give me 2950fps and single digit ES/SD at 43.2gr of H4350. I can live with that. I do believe the starline has slightly less capacity than the alpha or lapua, leading to higher pressure with less powder. The starline is probably keeping me from hitting the 3050fps node, but it's my go to comp rifle, and I don't want to smoke the barrel right away.

Barrel length?
Thanks
