My Curtis Vector Build

Yeah mine will have a 223, 22 Creed, 25 SST, 6mm Creed, and a 6.5 creed. I will have 2 stocks. An EH-1 and a smaller style stock for my short barrels and light barrels. I am doing a second switch. I think it will be on an SR3 big horn with the Wyatts cut for the longer coal. I will have a 28 Nosler, 280 AI, 30-06 and if I can make an 338 edge work I will. I already have a lot of these cartridges on Savage setups so already all set up to shoot. I am sure it will change a bit though. Waiting for the wife to finish doctor school so she can foot the bill lol.

Very cool

That's the dream right there.

I'm also very interested in a long action magnum build. A 28 Nosler/338 Norma improved would fit well in the safe. We will see, hoping to not start another build before filling out this one.

After seeing this build I sold my custom 300 NM and have 6.5 SAUM build in the works. Did a Vector with a 7.5 twist proof carbon, KRG Bravo chassis. Should be fairly light for hunting

That's awesome! Glad to be a good influence.

Had I been more experienced in reloading I likely would have done a SAUM, as it is I'm enjoying the PRC and using it to learn to load on. Keep me updated on yours! Awesome actions, running the bolt is addicting.

Will do, my barrel is at my buddies being spun up now. I love how smooth the Vector runs! I have both .308 and mag bolts for it. Going to get a MPA chassis and a 6 Creed barrel for matches. The ease of swapping barrels and a bolt sold me

@jmcmath how do you like the Curtis actions? I'm going to build a 25 creedmoor/7mm ss switch barrel on a bravo stock. Was entertaining the idea of a bighorn origin or Curtis axiom. I know the axion is a step down from vector, but other than machined on rail and lug, they're very similar.

She will be done in October, so pretty soon here.

Love it, would do the Curtis again every day of the week if I had to build the rifle over again. The manners is the only thing on the build I'm not in love with.

It's pretty likely my long action will be on a Helix whenever it happens. They feel great, they run great and I can call/text the owners if I have an issue or question. Customer service is nuts. Longest I've waited on a callback from Joel was a whopping 15 minutes.

Edit* As many have likely seen now Joel Russo is no longer affiliated with CC. I feel it necessary to state that all of my communication and business was conducted through Joel. This is not to say that CS would not be good without Joel, as I have none to speak of. It is important to me that I note that none of my CS comments are applicable without Joel being present.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I'm curious if you're still loving the vector? I'm looking to pick one up for a .223 / 6.5 SS / 300 SS switch barrel setup ... plus more barrels and cartridges down the road. Are you running AW mags or just AICS? Any feeding issues with the PRC in either mag, any idea what the COAL length of the PRC is? It looks like a pretty tight fit in the mag you have pictured in this thread.

thanks for any additional feedback!

coal of factory prc was 2.945 for me. Tight but fit and no feeding issues. I used accurate AICS pattern mags. I sold this rifle to man who wanted it for a pronghorn hunt, I sure hope he was successful, it was a heck of a rifle for that kind of hunt.

I've considered building another and if I did it would probably be with a Terminus Zeus instead of a vector. While they are more expensive for a switch barrel setup than say a bighorn with interchangeable bolt heads, these feel much better to run IMO.

I miss this one

Thanks for the reply! I'm curious why the Zeus over the vector, they look nearly identical? The bighorn Origin is my big hang up, you can get that action with all the different bolt heads for quite a bit less than the vector or Zeus with a single bolt ... but minus some really nice features of course. I'd put a switchlug on the Origin to make barrel swaps quick and easy and call it good, I just can help but think I want the feature rich action of the vector, but can't convince myself it's worth an extra $500 when I could put that towards an extra barrel.

a lot of people love them, and they seem to work well but I did not care for my bighorn. It had a bunch of cock on close with my triggertech and that annoys me. The Zeus/vectors will not have this, they are timed well from the start. Again, this is not a big deal to most, but I have sold 3 rifles over this it is a big deal to me. My TL3 also wanted to bind a bit if you ran it poorly at the very back, the vector was practically impossible to bind. Not trying to make this a bashing thread, trying to give you a couple examples of why I prefer what I prefer.

As far as Zeus vs vector, there are some updates especially for mag over insertion in chassis. You can call Joel and talk to him about what he changed, I spent a while doing this and liked what he changed but I don't remember everything and I also don't want to toss it out here it's a phone call away.

Lastly, my CS experience throughout building this rifle was all with Joel and it was very good, so that alone would lead me to a terminus if I did it again.

I appreciate your experience and input and don't consider it bashing at all, you're literally confirming all my hangups about the Origin and why I know I should spend the money on the better action even if it means a slower build timeline.
I didn't realize the connection of Joel and Zeus, so did he leave Curtis and went and started Zeus? I'll give them a closer look!

Thanks again man!
