I'm going to start loading for a new 300 WSM. I have Norma brass Hammer 181 grain bullets. Federal edge TLR 175 Gr bullets, Federal 210,215 and Win WLRM primers. I have RL 26, H4350,7828SSC and a few other powders on hand. The rifle is a 1-10 twist in a 24" barrel.
The chamber will accept a 3.070" COAL but the magazine will only accept a 2.930" COAL.

With the bullets and primers I have on hand do you guys have any suggestions to start load development. I am open to ideas. If possible I would like to develop a load at least 3000fps if it is possible and keep good accuracy.
Thanks in advance.

Reloder 26 has shown to spike pressures at temps above ~85F so keep that in mind.
Alliant has data for the 300 WM with Reloder 26 that can give you an idea, case capacity is 8 or 10 grains difference so keep that in mind. The Hammer Hunters generally build less pressure than others of the same weight.

Have you found that your Norma brass has a smaller case capacity than other 300WSM brass?

I haven't measured the capacity in the 300WSM. I just compared the 300 Weatherby using Weatherby/norma brass and Remington brass. With a 180 grain TTSX and 84 grains of 7828 the weatherby brass still had more room for powder and the Remington brass was a compressed load.

Yeah, I only checked the capacity on the 300wsm after starting with a middle of the road load and was already crunching powder. Seating a bit longer thank book too.

I shoot 168gr Sierra MK and NOS Accubonds in mine. 67.0gr of Hodgdon Superformance and CCI magnum primers. I get 1/2moa consistency w/around 3070fps

I bought a Kimber 300 WSM in 2004. Had to get load information off the internet, Not in reloading books at that time. The load I settled on was.
Case: New Win. with all the grunt work done.
Primer: Old Win. LR. for standard or magnum loads.
Powder: IMR 4350 Load 65.0 Gr. (Sixty Five. 0)
Bullet: 180 Sierra, 180 Hornady, 180 Nosler Partition.
OACL 2.860" Shoots all 3 bullets under .75 at 100 yds.
Elk, Caribou. and deer with these loads.

Tried 150 Gr. 165 Gr. Jacket/Core bullets and 165 Gr. Hornady GMX and 168 Gr. Nosler E-Tip, This Rifle shot non of these bullets accurately.

Cross reference all the reloading material you can ,the answers are out there take some time and fine them . Make notes or take pictures ,different sources use (different) Brass , now there you go ,!!! Lots n lots of info is already printed and free , do your Homework it's not that hard ,Reading is learning and it'll keep you safe !!!
