Rl-26 (fairy dust) replacement?

I'm giving rl-25 a go when my 7mm gets back from Remington. I had started load development with it in my old 7mm but nothing too deep. I heard that the plant that makes rl-26 in Australia burnt flat. Not sure if that's true of not but if it is that must have been one heck of a show! Unfortunately I dont think we'll be seeing rl-26 anytime soon.

I'm not sure about rl26 being made in Australia. All of my canisters of rl26 powders say that they were made in Switzerland for alliant powder. Did they move Switzerland to Australia? lol

I've had great results with RL-23 in 243 Win with 95gr VLD, 270 Win with various 150gr, 7mm Rem Mag with various 150gr to 168gr bullets, including Barnes 145gr LRX and 150gr TTSX, and 30-06 with 212gr ELD-X, 215gr Hybrids, 230gr Hybrids and 200gr Barnes.

I bought 8# jugs of RL-23 and RL-16 right when they first came available and after very successful load development in various cartridges in multiple rifles, I bought six more 8# jugs of each. Both powders have been outstanding, for most of my firearms, in appropriate cartridges and with proper bullet weight. Wasn't trying to hoard as both powders were readily available back then. I was just trying to maintain consistency in lot numbers. I've been doing that with powders, bullets, primers and brass, for nearly 40 years now. Down to 16# left of my RL-23...

Incidentally, RL-23 will work in 300 Win Mag with the 212gr to 230gr bullets but, is pretty anemic in that role.

Like I said I didn't know if it was true or not. I forgot alliant was made it Switzerland

RL22 has worked well for me in 280ai but my best success with 150gr sirocco and accubond long range has been with H100v

Good velocity and very low variability .54 gr is getting me 2870 out of a 26" tube with no pressure signs in my rifle

A 1/10 twist - what was your thought process there? I have a 1/9 and can't stabilize Berger 168s .

When I shoot this Barrell out will replace with a 1/8

I'm not a hoarder I have needs. Some say a problem until they are asking for powder and primers. Thirty years of reloading taught me if you like it and you don't have enough probably should get it. I'll shoot through 30 pounds or so this year. I may have a problem! Get on the notify me list and it will come around last 8 pounder I got from Brownells.

I use 7828ssc w/62.5 grains in my 280AI load. I shoot a 140 Nosler Accubond. It is deadly accurate. I m getting 3150 fps in my load. Always remember this load is for my rifle only. Work up a load ; don't try my load 1st

As the title suggest, I am looking for a replacement for RL-26. I came on a pound by chance and have a very nice load for my .280 Ackley. It is a 1-10, 22"lilja and I am shooting the 140 to 150 class bullets. I have some hammers I hope to get made up soon...I also have a good load with 4831sc, have tried regular 4831 but loved the RL-26 for the flow and measurability too. Is there another class of Reloader to try that I can actually purchase?!? Any one in real upstate NY or VT have any RL-26. Never fails I find something that works great and can't find it again...
Thanks in advance guys!!
Joe
Give RE 23 a go. You'll be glad you did

My thoughts for the 1/10 twist were I was interested in shooting the small to mid-weight bullets and not stuffing the case full of lead or copper. I'm having fun listening to my rifle tell me what it likes...
