Tikka t3x ammo help

I have a Tikka T3x lite 300 win mag I'm having issues on what rounds to go with for elk sized game. I've only been able to get 190g Barnes LRX to group well. What would be another good factory ammunition to try?

I've only had any luck with Sako 180grain Super Hammerheads grouping well. Hornady was like throwing it at the target, all over the place. I feel like it's a throating issue with Tikkas. Match the throat and you'll find a good round. I've talked to a guy who swears by using a bullet puller hammer to lengthen rounds, then reseats them in a press to "customize" his factory ammo with fairly good results.

yeah everyone kept telling me hornady is the way to go ive tried them and they just fly all over the place at 100 yards im wondering if i should get a hold of tikka and see if they can do anything about it.

Tikka only guarantees MOA accuracy with their ammo and it shoots lights out in my 300WM. Try their ammo. If it shoots, they are not likely to do anything to your rifle.

Try some berger. They make 168g and 185g classic hunter ammo. I don't own or load for 300wm but they may work.

I've tried both and both of them dont group at all.

Start with changing the recoil lug from the aluminum to a steel one then glass bed the recoil lug and action. My Tika t3 300wsm went from 1" to .25 groups with barnes 180 ttsx bt at 2950 fps. That will help the most then start shooting different ammo. Good luck and happy shooting!

There are many factory rounds that should shoot well. As well as the high end offerings, don't overlook Federal Fusion. Hornady Superformance is generally pretty good.

The tikka t3x already comes with a stell recoil lug. I hand load so far the only bullet that gives me an acceptable group is a Sierra 160 gr. That's a 7 mm rem mag. I've got a few more to try but so far I'm not seeing the tikka buzz either.

Don't think mine is the x version, good to know they upgraded. Glass bedding it will still help. It's amazing they shoot as good as they do with that recoil lug system. I've converted some of them to a remington recoil lug and it made a big difference in accuracy. The best part of the tika is the glass smooth action and great trigger.

I have a tikka 300 wsm. It is a 1:11 twist. It won't shoot the 180s but loves the 165 gr. Try 165 or 168 and see what it does. If I'm not mistaken the 300 win is a 1:11 also. I've shot elk with the 165 barns and it preformed very well

My buddy's tikka in .300WM did well with handloads using H1000 and 180gr accubonds.

Maybe some of the nosler trophy grade ammo would work.
