This weekend I came across a sale item at my local Sportsman's Warehouse, a Nikon Ballistic Wind Meter intended to be used as part of the Spot-On system. I am a Leupold guy and haven't used Spot On since about 2012 or so, but I noticed this wind meter had a logo imprinted into it (see pic) that I had seen before - on a Weatherflow meter. For $25 I decided to give it a shot. Now, as I said, I don't use Spot On, I do use Strelok, so it would be nice to have a wind input for 600yds and out. I haven't stepped up on a Kestrel and don't plan to just yet. I hope to use this instead with my mobile. So does the thing even work?

First test - Using the Spot On app from Nikon: I had the same trouble others appear to have had with the app not working on their phones, the whole app failed to function at all, so that's out. I never liked it anyway.

Second Test - Using the Wind and Weather App from Weatherflow: Now this is what I call simple. I downloaded the app and in 2 minutes I was getting wind speed and direction readings with averages and gusts. It's just simple and easy to use. I've attached pics.

So I've been on the fence about wind metering equipment for a long time and this at least got me off the fence. I'd be interested in anyone else's results, and if you were having trouble with this meter and the Spot On app too, maybe try the Weatherflow app.

i saw one at academy for around the same price a few months back. i looked at the reviews and they didnt seem so great, so i held off. good to know you're getting good results.

Looks promising i'd be interested if it reads air pressure and temperature also does the Weatherflow app work seamlessly with it no Bugs.
