338RUM for ELR

I'm going to try a box of Lehigh 245gr brass solids. the BC is way up there and I'm hoping that I can run them around 3000fps. the drop and drift numbers are very strong out to 2k.

I'm thinking about doing a 338 rum and using the 250+ bullets. What velocity, barrel length, powder, and twist? This will be a short/longrange/ELR hunting hammer!

I have a 26" 1-9twist barrel from carbon six 338 rum running the 285eldm at 2870fps with retumbo powder. I put the wyatts 4" mag box in it and that really woke it up. Can touch lands and still fit in mag. It is a great round.

I really, really like the Berger 250, I run them 3120 in several rifles with 28 inch barrels and they get where their going fast. They are extremely jump tollerent in rifles throated for 300's, same rifles run the 300 at 2830 with H1000.

Badlands Bullet Company has a 260 gr PCIBM that really shoots well for ELR. Length 1.962″ BC (G1) 0.841 Twist 1:9.0″

Badlands Precision make awesome hunting bullets as well, 338 cal in a 275 gr Bulldozer and a high bc Super Bulldozer in 270 gr,

shown here with the 260 gr ELR bullet
