Thinking about moving to Oregon

I think you would like the east side of the Cascades most of the Willamette valley is sanctuary cities with a pot shop on every corner and a bum sleeping in every door way . Might want to bring your lawyer to help you decipher the hunting and fishing regs . How about you tell us what Idaho is like ! I would like to get out of Salem

Wow. Good replies from others here, I had no idea. Oregon is quickly becoming the most restricted gun-law state. What a sad state of affairs.

Although Bend has a college it is quite expensive to live there....
My best guess for everything you might enjoy....LaGrande
Eastern Oregon State college....although it could be infected with californianitis too......

Californians are tolerable only if they stay in California. If they move to any other state, they should be declared an invasive species, and iradicated on sight. They've already ruined OR, don't come here, unless you would enjoy living by THEIR rules - their idea of how you should live your life. Been here for 70 years and we're seriously thinking of moving to Idaho.

Bend and that area is a long drive from hunting and fishing. I live in Oregon City and can be hunting good Blacktail deer ground in a half hour. Not much for elk around. PLENTY of predators. Fishing is good.

Ya sadly the reason Im thinking about moving to Oregon is I have started getting tired of today's hunting environment and have started to do a lot more fishing. I've kinda fallen in love with walleye fishing lately and was thinking of moving kinda towards the Portland area. Looks like it would have everything a fisherman could ask for there. We'll see if it happens but was kinda wondering how the gun and hunting environment is over there.
If this is truly the case then look at the tri-cities in WA. They have much better warm water opportunities then OR. OR as EVERYONE has mentioned sucks. I say this as a 5th generation head to AZ or Wy when my kids get done.

Maybe I can trade you places, Oregon has turned into hippie liberalville. Use to be timber was king, now it's the hemp, medication stations.

California has really ruined Oregon. Beautiful state, but it is getting crowded. Like has been said Portland and Eugene dictate the politics and we seem to go further left every year. We still have 30 round mags and ARs, and no waiting periods. That will probably be changing in the next 10 years unfortunately. The hunting is ok if you can get on some private property. The west side of the state is tough. Its rough country. Very thick, very wet, very steep. And most of the public land is locked up behind private logging land. So even what is available is only accessible if you pay $100-$200 to Weyerhauser or Hancock forest management to get a key to the gates. Over the counter elk tags... with a 2% success rate. 10 years ago I could drive all day out in the hills and hunt or shoot. Today it is gate after gate.
