Stuck between which powder to select and brass suggestions

Hi guys, I'm somewhat newer to reloading.
My rifle is a savage 111 trophy hunter xp chambered in 7mm RM factory action and barrel (9.5 twist)

My bullet selection for this time and development is the hornady eldx 162 grain
I've been working with (I wanted hodgdon) imr 7828
Temperature range is a factor for my hunting regions I'm in az in hot regions or hunt up north in the cold or maine/Wyoming
My primer selection is federal premium GM215M
I do have a bunch of factory once fired federal winchester super and Remington

New brass I have a bag of hornady

The powders that make the list for me are (probably going to be between the first two)
Hodgdon 4350
Hodgdon retumbo
Hodgdon 4831
H1000

The brass I have I don't mind using because I've seen 9 million inconsistent reviews on brass all besides norma which I cant seem to find otherwise that would be it... and nosler is available but spans the spectrum on feedback


So given my info and direction im looking for accuracy not for inside 400 or 600 yards but beyond .... specifically on these two topics what are your opinions for primarily powder and I'd like to hear brass suggestions

H1000 was my go to for bot the 7mm RM and 7mm STW until I discovered the benefits of RL26 and RL33.

H1000 is very reliable but I get better velocities with lower pressures and better accuracy with the Alliant Powders.

Honestly I should have thrown one of those up there RL 25 was high on the list too I just havent researched it enough or know much about it or if it's more temp resistant I've seen a ton of thumbs up for it and yes MV was up

I think you'll find RL 26 to be much more stable and gives higher velocities with Lower chamber pressures.

I've shot about 5lbs of it over the last few years in my STW's and 300wm's and even had good results with it in the 300 Rum's although I find RL 33 to be a slight improvement in the STW's and Rum's and it's been fantastic in the 6.5LRM.

The last group I shot with the 6.5LRM was 78.5gr of RL33 pushing the 129gr interbond right at 3400 FPS and it was a 200yds clover leaf with all three rounds touching.

I gave that up years ago and just started ordering it online.

Any of the mom and pop shops can get it for you if you ask but you may have to wait for their next shipment.

That's what it is for the local shop he just has to wait until he gets a mass order

Most will order when they get at least a full case order ready to go just due to the Hazmat fees which are mostly about paperwork and vary little or none between one pound and a hundred pounds.

I was talking with a fedex drive last week and they have to provide copies to the local PD and ATF for every hazmat delivery wither it's a pound of powder or a 5,000 rounds of ammo.

Az, loaded H1000 with 168 Bergers for seven different 7mm Rem's. All very accurate with nearly (.1-.3gr.) same charge. Most have taken Ariz. elk and muleys. I just bought a 7mag for myself since I didn't have one. Hoping to take it on a Az elk hunt if I get drawn.

i use 168 or 180 gr. Berger's in my 7mm & i like the Retumbo.

Nosler brass, IMR 7828 SSC or 7977, Fed 215M primers, and Berger 175 Elite Hunters seated .015" off the lands.

H4831 with the 162 ELD-X

Count me in for the H1000 crowd. I've been using it in my 7RM for anything 160gr and up with great results. Its very consistent and very temp stable. Like you, I live in a region (mid-south) with 90+ summers and winters that can get in the teens. Never had an issue in either extreme.

Pick ONE headstamp for your brass...as long as it is not the Hornady headstamp. Then weight sort it to within 1-3gr difference across 100 pieces.

Primer choice is great.

Powder: H4831 or H1000 for those you listed. RL23 if you want to buy something else. RL26 is great until you hit 84° (which could easily be on an early rifle elk hunt, many deer hunts, and almost any antelope hunt you draw in AZ. Then RL26 spikes pressure quickly.

Bullet: if you can get the 162 ELD-X to shoot, you should expect 2950-3050+. Other options to consider would be 160 Accubond, 165 Gamechanger, 168 HVLD, 175 SGK, 175 Berger Elite, 168/175 NABLR, even some of the match busts in 160-175gr like TMK, SMK, Match Burner, etc.

I am an AZ guy too. And hunt from -4° to 110°+. I use H1000 in my personal 7RM under a 180 Hybrid. Works wonders on game including elk from up close and personal to the next County over.
