For those interested, here's a write up I did on Accurate Shooter on my 6.5 PRC I built earlier this year. Because the round was fairly new, and so much info in different places, I tried to consolidate as much as I could, and show my results. Kind of a long read, but lots of questions can be answered in regard to the round.

Nicely done, very good article. I'd be proud of that final 600yd group anyday, Heck, I'd frame it!

When shooting factory Hornady 6.5prc ammo, do you get ejector swipes on the case head?

I built a 6.5prc and when shooting the 147gr match ammo, i get ejector swipes on nearly all of the brass. I don't see excessive sings of pressure on the primer. I'm wondering if everyone sees this cause of soft hornady brass with this round?

it averages 2928fps on my 26" barrel.

Sorry, just saw your question.....
I never have shot factory 6.5 PRC ammo, just reloads. Despite running some pretty stout loads, I didn't get "swipes", but I did get tattoos from the ejector hole from too warm loads.

I don't see Hornady brass as soft either, I think it's pretty **** tough stuff.

I settled on 150 SMK's at 3025.

I'm looking to build a 6.5 prc for me and my 3 boys to shoot. Anyone interested in this thread, what's your feeling on the new cartridge for ringing steel and or hunting

I like mine. I think I will feel comfortable a good way out for deer/antelope but will likely put a 5-600 cap for elk. Mine recoils quite mildy but it is a 10 pound rifle.

I'm shooting for a 10 pound rifle. A break will be a definite..... whitetail and steel. Elk would be a different rifle! Thanks for the response. My boys are 11,9,7. Recoil for the oldest boy isn't much of an issue as he shoots a 300wsm now without issue

Mine didn't even have a break on it when I first shot it. Total kitten with a half decent muzzle device

Even though I sold the gun in my thread, I liked the round well enough that I just finished up another PRC build. Only this time I built it as a mid weight hunting-carrying-packing rifle. Bare gun weighs 7 pounds on the nuts with a 24" barrel. Scope, rings, & rail added 1 lb 12ozs.

I'll start another thread in a day or two........

It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
