My first world problem:
Tikka T3 lite blued 338 Win Mag
or
Tikka T3X lite blued 338 Win Mag

Can anyone explain to me the differences in the ejection ports. I'm wondering if the new T3X has any real advantage in this area, regarding COAL.

Is magazine length still going to be the most limiting part of either gun for hand loads?

I'd like to run a 210-250 grain bullet (Accubond's, Hammer's, or TTSX's). Most of my research has lead me to a max COAL in the Tikka's of approximately 3.400" and it seems that people can make that work. Maybe I'm over thinking it, but if I had more overall length in one or the other, then I'd have more case capacity and more options to work with jump.

Both rifles are brand new, but the T3 would leave more room in my budget for a new stock.

Thanks in advance
Dan

I don't believe they made the magazine any longer, the tikka mags are still standard, their isn't a 't3x' mag that I'm aware of.

I have the T3 Lite in 338WM and know that they come with a crappy hard rubber recoil pad that needs replacement with Limbsaver 10011. I love it. Ultra light for such power.

I know the T3X has modified this pad and has fit spacers, but cannot speak to how this new recoil pad system is.

Yes I believe they are the same magazines. My question was more pertaining to the ejection port size, and if there was any advantages there. ie ejecting longer, unfired rounds.

Both should eject loaded mag length rounds. I believe they widened the port on the t3x. The major improvements of the x will be with the stock

T3x has different stock, new better pad, steel recoil lug vs aluminum, metal bolt shroud vs plastic and (like said) slightly enlarged ejection port (it is lower, wider and angled to allow easier hand loading than old one so the new stock is slightly relieved) it has interchangeable pistol grips and forend too-- also has foam filled buttstock to quiet
Also has improved grip surface on stock and a "better" rail on top for attaching rings or a pic rail
