Eradicate the Wolf???!

Good post Gscan!
I am also a realist! And I've also been in this fight for a very long time – up close and personal! I know how the animal rights and environmental extremist think – and some are crazy but those running the big extremist groups aren't crazy! Instead they're very intelligent – and manipulative!
It's fine to talk about the balance of nature and if the wolf has a place in the lower 48 – but that's ignoring why the animal rights groups are so pro wolf -- and the root of the problem!
In the case of wolves -- that animal rights agenda is to destroy hunting by limiting hunting opportunities which in turn will limit new people coming into the hunting sports. Right now they're using the wolf but if not the wolf -- it will be something else!
The extremist groups like the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States). PETA, the Fund for Animals, Greenpeace, the Sierra Club and many others are the problem. We've got to target their credibility!
When the barn door is open you're got to close it or the horses will continue to get out! In this case the barn door is the urban tree huggers and the people who support all the extremist groups which hoodwink those urban tree huggers into supporting the agenda – and this includes the legislators who support those extremist groups!
Our growing urban population is so far removed from the realities of nature they're easy pickings for those extremist groups. By trying to educate the urban population we come off as being the bad guys – so what to do?
The extremist groups need to be exposed for their extremism and for their lies. The HSUS -- with their late night TV ads showing those poor abused kittens and puppies and asking for only $19.00 a month to save them -- doesn't use that money to do any hands on animal shelter work! They use the money to write and enact legislation to negatively affect hunting and our human/animal relationship. The HSUS has a yearly budget of approx. 200 million dollars a year and they collect that money based on fraudulent advertising! They're so successful that they are even able to hoodwink intelligent legislators into supporting them!
If you visit the HSUS "Humane Scorecard" web page you'll see exactly which legislators support their legislation efforts. Since most of you won't visit that page – here it is -- it's our Democrat legislators which get an 80% approval rating by the HSUS as opposed to our Republican legislators receiving a 20% approval rating!
Why do the Democrats tend to support the animal rights agenda? It's because Democrats tend to let their emotions trump their intellect. I'm not saying the Democrats aren't intelligent – I'm saying they let their emotions have final say over their opinions.
This is why animal rights groups like the HSUS use the heart wrenching advertising. They're targeting the emotions – because it works!
Either we've got to quit voting for Democrats – which won't happen – or we've got to educate those Democrats we elect! Hence, we've got to let those emotionally inclined elected Democrats know that they're being manipulated by these extremist groups! When you let someone know they're being manipulated, they'll likely respond in either one of two ways! Either they'll dig in their heels and continue to support those extremist groups or get angry at the extremist groups! Those who dig in their heels will eventually get angry at the extremist groups because they'll eventually begin to see that manipulation – and that's when we can start to get rid of those extremist groups like the HSUS and PETA because they'll lose their credibility!
Only then will we be able to actually manage the wolves!

I recently made friends with a fella who used to be part of PETA and another group who tried to get land closed by claiming there was native american artifacts there. I cant remember the groups name. He told me that as a group they would plant fake arrowheads and make fake photos to show hunters doing illegal things. They would take this faked info to colleges and politicians to get their way. He is now a hunter and conservationist after seeing the ethics of these groups. I would just echo that the people who push these environmental issues have extremists that will do whatever it takes to shutdown land from hunting and show hunting in an evil light. So just be aware these people are cunning. Just my 2 copper pennies.

Gcan is right mtmuley! This wolf issue is about destroying hunting!
Most of the time the animal rights (AR) extremist is also the environmental extremist -- same person with the same misanthropic personality with a hatred of all things human!
There are two types of animal rights (AR) and environmental extremists.
The first is the person in the trenches – the ones spiking the trees and throwing red paint on someone wearing a fur coat or releasing the mink from mink farms. The second is the executive of the big organizations, such as the HSUS or PETA and other extremist groups. The executive doesn't have the same OCD behavior of the person in the trenches. The executive can take a loss and move on without emotion where the person in the trenches is emotionally destroyed by a loss.
The strength of the AR in the trenches is the fact that they won't quit – as Gscan pointed out. They won't quit because they're OCD about it. This OCD problem is also their weakness because they tend to burn out – because they're not able to quit. I've known a number of AR extremists and have watched them have mental breakdowns because their OCD behavior drives them to mental instability – but there are so many of them -- losing a few here and there is hardly noticed.
I've been in the fight against animal rights extremism since 2003 but knew about the AR's 10 years before that. I didn't get involved in the fight until I felt personally attacked – and I've seen the same thing with others. Until a person feels personally attacked they often don't tend to get involved!
I'm not only a hunter but also a dog breeder of show dogs and the dog show people have the same problem getting everyone on the same page as Gcan said. Show dog breeders look down on the commercial dog breeder but the AR's are after both groups as well as the back yard breeders, the ranchers and farmers etc. They're also after the guns and some of our dog breeders have realized we all need to hang together but it's a work in progress.
We all need to be in the same page/fight opposing the extremist environmental and animal rights agenda – because they hate all of us – whether we're a show dog breeder, a commercial breeder, a rancher or farmer, a hunter, fisherman or logger – we all need to support the same organizations.
The NRA is the first one we need to support and the National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA) is another. The Calvary Group and the Sportsmen's and Animal Owners' Voting Alliance (SAOVA) are others.
The thing is – you and I mtmuley, can disagree with each other – but we both are on the same chopping block! So we should all pull together to protect each other because as Ben Franklin said: "If we don't hang together, we will assuredly hang separately"

This entire post is a complete joke. Bible thumping know it all's and "conservationists". The wolf has just as much right to be here as we do and they survived next to humans in North America for tens of thousands of years. So why don't they belong now? Bunch of pious know it alls.

I made my other reply before I read the above from Tiidus56! He's right about the lying of the extremists. I've even heard them talking about it. They believe the end justifies the means. They're so sure they're in the right, they'll lie at the drop of a hat if it achieves their goals. When legislators who support them learn this – the legislator will often drop them like a hot potato!

The problem with your post is it insinuates you as a know it all. Your comment adds nothing to the thread, simply that you disagree and find us as "A bunch of pious know it alls". While you may believe that, maybe instead offer your own opinion rather than attacking others views and calling names.

Considering the source don't feel bad if some of us ignore You especially since you like to insult and not make a positive contribution to the discussion.
People that are ignorant can ignore all they want. Just because I don't share your narrow minded views does it mean I do not make any positive contributions? How so? Where did I insult you? mtmuley

There you go again! Your lack of understanding in how to deal with people is showing.

Here is what you said to me and I quote:
I think you are a bad representative of hunters just like anyone else that post stupid ---- like this. That's what I think. mtmuley

So you think you are a shining example of purity and grace as a representative of this forum, mtmuley? Think again!

I think just because your opinion is different than another it doesn't make them "narrow minded" or "ignorant". I dont agree with either of you fully but name calling on a forum is unbecoming. I am out of this thread as it has devolved.

My thoughts:
The gray wolf does not belong in north Idaho (Coeur d'Alene and Selkirk Mountains). "Reintroduced" is not the term I would use. "Invasive Species" is the term I use. When the wolves show up all game scatters in my experience. Add the healthy population of coyotes, bears and cats we are predator rich and elk poor. The deer are here but head for private land and got real scarce this year. I want all the wolves gone. Won't apologize for my opinion. The native species was scarce and not a problem. The transplanted wolves from Canada have done nothing but reek havoc and over populate where I live. It affects my chances of putting meat in my freezer. Selfish?? Maybe. Do I care? Not a bit. I have as much right to harvest animals as the next guy or predator. We have some trappers working in our area and I have decided to always have a wolf tag in my pocket to hopefully do my part given an opportunity. Honestly I am tired of the animal rights/environmentalist groups who only want to stop hunting and control us. These are my thoughts and opinions.
