I bought a TL3 today! I have wanted one for a bit but I have a few questions.
Barrels I currently have with a savage barrel nut setup. 6.5 creedmoor savage varmint contour, 243 AI Savage varmint contour, 204 Ruger same contour.
Barrels I want that will be TL3 shouldered: 7mm SS light Palma, 223 savage varmint and a short barrel 6.5 or small 7mm for suppressor and lightish weight hunting.
First, and I think I know the answer, all these cartridges will feed in either a 308, 223 or WSM magazine? I am pretty sure it will but not positive.
Second I was thinking a Hawkins M5 DBM. Any opinions or suggestions on DBM setup. It will be my first, all other builds are BDL or blind mag.
Finally stock. I am thinking either a PRS1 or a EH1A? I don't want a chassis. I assume I can fit all my barrels in that stock, if not I can buy a second stock. Website says will accept #7 contour. I am not sure I know what they mean by #7 as there are many different #7 contours depends on whose #7 they refer too. Figure I would call unless someone here knew.
Intended purpose for varmint weight barrels are for plinking, shooting steel or killing varmints. Other barrels are for hunting. I think the gun will weigh around 9 with a light barrel and 11 or so with the varmint barrels.
If you see a major flaw that I am overlooking let me know, thanks.

Looks good to me. I'm in the process of building something very similar. I'm going with the HS bottom metal/clip system though. Strictly a hunting rifle. Barrel contour I'm thinking of 3B or similar. Hoping bare gun is about 8-8.5 lbs. hopefully I don't need to go CF barrel. This is getting expensive enough.

I assume I will end up with a few carbon fiber barrels as well. I really don't mind having 2 stocks though. Right now I have 8 rifles to do all the different shooting I do and putting glass, triggers and everything else is expensive. I also want all my guns to feel the same, hence this switch barrel idea. Good luck on your build Beeman.

Well Sir, It seems like a noble project for sure. I will say just a few words and hope they are some benefit to you. 1st, Either of the stocks you mentioned is a 1st rate stock. I currently have my hunting rifle in an EH-1 and I am about to buy a PRS1 for a new project. I would suggest you give Tom Manners a call at his shop. He will give you facts about the barrel channel. As well, he has 1st rate bottom metal. If you buy your bottom metal from him, he will install it at no charge to you. Then when you receive your stock, it'll be ready to go. I don't see any major problems as you say. But, a quick call to Tom will get all of your questions answered with 100 percent certainty. When I buy my PRS1 it will be my 6th Manners Stock and I am exceedingly happy with each of them. Best of luck to you.

Great advice, I appreciate it. I will give manners a call direct and even use their bottom metal if it will do what I need it to. Thanks man

Is there any "rattle" with the manners mini chassis BM? Other guns I've seen have turned me away from this type. That's why I'm leaning towards the HS Precision model. Looks like it is more tight fitting and for a hunting gun I only need 3 round capacity.

The other thing is I bet the Manners mini chassis DBM will weigh a bit more. So keep that in mind and check the specs. The Hawkins metal is 5.1 ounces and APA has bottom metal that is 3.1 ounces. So be sure to watch the weight.

Just looking into switch barrels so this is rather timely. So are the Bighorns automatically setup for switch barrels? Do they use a nut like the Savage or how will you be setting this up.

You can either use the savage prefits and a nut, or shouldered prefits. Mine are set up with shouldered prefits....
Got it, thank you. That being the case then, BigHorn won't work for my next build as I need a .580 bolt face but I will keep this in mind down the road.

They have three bolt face sizes, 223, 308 and magnum. I don't know what cartridges take .580 bolt faces but that thing is huge. I actually shot a switch lug setup today. I think I will end up turning my BigHorn into a switchlug setup. So easy to swap barrels

It is the Lapua bolt face.
