Easiest Long Range Hunting Caliber To Reload For

As the title states, im not looking for the magic recipe and I have a generally good grasp at working up a load for a rifle. But some cartridges are just a breeze to load for. Ive had many 6.5x47s, 6.5creedmoors, and 223s. They just seem to shoot really well relatively quickly without searching and searching for a load

Is there a Long range hunting cartridge the same way? What magnum cartridge do you guys find really easy to load for

I haven't found the .338 RUM finicky. Scarce supplies a time or 2, but no fire forming or extra steps.

You left out .308 Winchester and 7mm-08 Remington...

As for magnums, the 7mm RemMag and 7mm STW are very easy to load for.

All comes to luck of the draw with any rifle.....it may be the first load you put in...it may the last load..........this site makes good results..much faster......

For true long range hunting it doesn't get much easier than a 7 Rem Mag or a 300 Win Mag.

My 300 Win Mag took 15 shots to develop a load for. Would of been less but I started quite low on powder charge to be safe. The 215 and H1000 was very easy to get a good load.

308 Win with Varget or IMR4064 or RL15 or 5 other powers with similar burn rate
243 Win with H4350

6.5 saums have been easiest and most consistently the same for me with h1000 and vld.

In my opinion there is a difference between easy to tune cartridges and cartridges that have well known and repeatable data. I think the 7 Rem Mag and the 300 Win Mag have very well known and repeatable loads but I would not place them in the same category as easy to tune rounds like the 6br, 284 Win, 7 SAUM, and 300 WSM. I have found the tune window to be relatively small on the 7RM and 300WM but they are very accurate once you find the load. I have also found the load data from one rifle to the next to be very close in powder charge. Seating depth varies in every chamber so it would not be something I would use for comparison. In comparison the other cartridges I mentioned will almost shoot anything well. Obviously they still need to be tuned for ultimate accuracy. This is one of the reasons the other rounds I mentioned are winning long range benchrest and Fclass.

This is no joke... On 5 separate occasions with my factory Gen1 R700 5R Milspec .308 Win, I picked the bullets (several different brands and weights) I wanted to shoot. Then using Varget, Fed 210M primers, and legit match brass (old Hornady Match, or Lapua), I picked a random charge weight from the manuals. Tossed some ammo together and went to the range, and shot sub-1/2 Minute groups. No load development, just threw something together all the same charge weight, and went to get in some trigger time. A couple loads shot 1/4 minute (or less) 3-shot groups, and a couple were shooting in the .3xx" range 5-shot groups. It is the easiest and least-picky gun I have to load for. It liked everything I've ran through it, except a couple different types of factory ammo I've had sitting around for years, that I was shooting up just to get the brass.

And this is not the first .308 Win I've had that was this easy to shoot. I had another custom .308 Win built back in 2002, and it was the same way. Shot everything into the same ragged hole.

270 win load h4831 a 215 and a decent 130grn bullet and it will shoot well. Don't know your seating just take a loaded 130 winchester power point raise it in you seater die then turn the stem down till it touches the bullet. This will work well in any sammi chamber.

I have the same story on my GEN 1 5R rifle in 308 Win. I've used 4064 and RL15 to absolutely terrifying accuracy with little to no effort using WINCHESTER brass.

I am kinda with ruferman. I have loaded for a couple different 300 WSMs with about 8 different bullets. Everything was easy, except for one bullet...
But one pattern you will start to see is that most short cartridges are easy to load for and forgiving. Think the short powder column has a lot to do with it.
