Ha! Very nice view! I havent seen any monster whitetail's yet either....7 days into the season here. Good luck brother!
Day 2 of the season here. Got to watch a bunch of yearlings playing in the snow last night 40yds away from me. Good luck to you as well!

If thats as good as some of you guys are are spotting animals....stay home...leave them for REAL MEN........
Right of center.....butt to....dark antlers.....

Saw all kinds of red and black checkerboard from Sidney Nebraska east last evening...
Some of it was as bad as the muleys getting squashed in idaho.......

Evening spot. Wasn't expecting these little guys to come out less than 20yds away from me. Probably could have taken one with the 45. Would that still be considered long range if I did it with an M&P Shield? lol

Some folks get it, but it seems others don't... It ain't about the kill...It's about connecting with nature, getting back to our genetic roots and ancestors, and enjoying God's creation. The kill is simply a plus, as it puts food on our table to sustain us.
Exactly. I could have bought 10 doe tags and just started shooting a bunch of tiny yearlings if I wanted to just kill something. They would have been tender... My dad hunted this 80 acres with his dad and uncle when he was a kid. I was fortunate enough to get to hunt it with all of them before my grandpa passed (he hunted until 2yrs before he passed). I've had years where I didn't even see a deer and 2 years ago I pulled this guy out of here. Not a massive rack, but nice for Michigan, and dressed out to 200#20161115_083412.jpg

Enjoy God's creation, and if he gives you some freezer meat, take it!

I agree... unless I don't. What I mean is that for me... right now... its all about the kill. that's because I lost my job a few weeks ago, and have to feed 6 mouths somehow. I guess I can consider myself lucky that I lost my job right before deer season... silver lining.

I usually hunt for the overall experience. I love being in the blind before the birds and squirrels start making sounds. I love watching young deer run about, and bucks chase does, and when I know there is a good buck... waiting for him.

I agree. You may want to remember though that some people aren't as fortunate as others. I mean, right now... deer season was timed perfectly. I lost my job two weeks ago. I've got only a few tags, with which to feed 6 mouths.

Hunting in my family has always been two-fold. Food/Tradition. Nothing is wasted. We don't pay folks to handle our animals. We don't hunt with $1000.00 rigs much. We kill food, and apply as much "sport" to the endeavor as possible... when possible. When not, we hunt food.

I only say this to point out that while I totally agree with you, in a good year; I have lived on both sides of the fence, such as this year. If I had 10 doe tags, I'd try my best to fill 10/10 this year. Neck stew tastes way better than antler stock.
