.264 Win build

I'm looking at building a .264 win on a Tikka M695 action. Boyd's stocks has a couple differen thumbhole stocks I'm deciding between. The featherweight and the varmint thumbhole. Weight isnt really the deciding factor for me. Difference in the 2 is a half pound I think. I like the idea of the beaver tail forend on the varmint. And I'm putting a #4 or possibly #5 contour barrell finished @ 27" in it so possibly be better to have more material for the barrell channel? (Jesus...I think I'm answering my own questions). Anyways....anyone know of different options for a stock for that action that won't break the bank? Any ideas on this build in general? Should I be looking at doing something different with this platform? Thanks in advance.

I have the varmint thumbhole on a heavy barrel 204 and really like it, but I wish it had a little more cheeck height. Call them and see if they build in more height, or an adjustable cheek piece for you. Great stock otherwise though

257Tony...... Forend of the stock too wide and feel "awkward" shooting off hand?

Yeah its best suited to shooting off bags, but with a long heavy barrel your gun will always be a little awkward off hand.

The low line thumbhole stocks do not lend themselves to having an adjustable cheek piece.

Virtually every stock manufacturer makes an adjustable stock in one form or another. Breaking the bank is a personal decision and you haven't disclosed your level of expenditure yet. Other than that, the plywood stocks are the cheapest, then the garbage like Hogue stocks and those in that price range. B&C is a step up, then HS Precision, McMillan and Manners which can get pretty pricey when you ask for adjustability. You can take a standard style stock and add a polymer cheek rest (Kydex) for not a lot of money or do what the shotgun guys do and cut the butt stock and add the adjustable kit.

GRS makes a great fitting adjustable stock named the Beserk but I think it's made just for the T3 although I'm not exactly sure.
