Picked one up to replace an older Bushnel prior to this year's Utah MULE deer hunt. Compared it side by side to a sig 2000 a G7BR2 and some swaro rangfining Binos. It ranges a long ways out was consistent to 1900 on trees off hand. Hit cliff faces at 2300-2900 consistently as well. Multiple deer were hit from 100-1300. Hit an elk at 1545 off hand as well. The APP is pretty helpful and rangefinder will send you your come-ups and wind straight back to your phone. The come-ups that pop up in the rangefinder were spot on with my ballistic app. You can also true your muzzlevelocity in the app as well by shooting at distance. Cold weather did not seem to effect it much if at all. The sig 2000 struggled in the cold the G7/2400/Binos did not. In the rain/Hail they all struggled, to be fair though the rain was so bad I couldn't see further than about 50 yards in front of me. I will say when the temps dipped down into the single digits early in morning it would only hit trees to about 1600 about the same as the G7. Sig 2000 really strugggled and wouldn't get past about 500. The Swaros did not seem to be effected by this. Another thing I liked is you can also change between Mils/MOA right in the APP. Useful for different shooters/scopes. My only real complaint was with the glare when looking directly towards the sun. Glare was pretty bad with the 2000/2400/G7 the swaros did not have the same issue. Overall very pleased with the purchase,

I have not tried the new Terrapin. I'm sure it is a better and prob ranges further. It had better for the extra grand that it costs. I debated between the 2400 ABS/BDX and G7. I have a kestrel so the BDX made the most since for me. Is it as good as the new Leica Binos no. However for $600 bones I can't complain.

My older terrapin took a dump and wont range. Its $800 to get looked at and could cost up to $1500 to fix.Real expensive paper weight

Just got a Sig 2400 DBX as well, have only had limited time to wring it out, but am impressed so far. This far, I have found it to be very consistent to 1800-1900 yards on trees in full sun. I did not get much time on rock faces, but did hit a few in the 23-2400 range, but not consistently.

The glare mentioned, I noticed this as well. Definitely something with the coatings they use. The color cast is also quite blue...in low light, it does not seem to make much difference, but in full light, it changes the cues I am looking for, so have found it somewhat more challenging to find the 'same spot' I found with my eyes or with my Leica optics due to the color difference.

I love the connection with the Kestrel. So far, it has been very fast and secure. I tried leaving the Kestrel running and sitting in a pouch and just grabbing the BDX and ranging and it pulled from the Kestrel every time so far. Pretty impressed.
