I'm interested in a 26 nosler but having trouble finding any parts to reload with. Is this round going away. Everything is sold out and no backorder available is what I'm seeing. I'm looking at a Christensen arms ridgeline because of the price. I want a fast flat shooting round that is good up to 1000 yrds. This is for hunting only no target shooting. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get a 28 Nosler, it is here to stay and gives you a lot more flexibility in regards to bullet choices. Get an 8 twist barrel if you want to shoot the Berger 195.

Brass is the same as the 28 nosler would just need to be necked down from what I understand

White tail. I have looked at the 28 nosler briefly and would be willing to get one. Would a 28 nosler in the Christensen arms ridgeline be a good one?

Scott I can assure that a 28 nosler is up to the task. I have just finished load development on a Christensen Arms Mesa in 28 Nosler and it shot well and was easy to find a good load for. We are shooting the 175 ELD-X at 3175 fps 1/2 Moa with ease.
I have a custom 28 Nosler that is shooting the 175 ELD-X at 3212 and 1/4 moa. Killed 2 coyotes Sunday one at 714 yds cold bore shot and one at 761 yds shortly there after.
The destruction was total.

Thanks for the reply. I am going next week to look at a ridgeline and hopefully I like the way it handles and then I can order it . A custom build is alittle out of my price range

I guess it depends on what you want to hunt. For mule deer on down, the .264 caliber is certainly enough bullet, especially with modern designs. While a 28 Nosler will obviously also work on mule deer, etc., it definitely won't be as fast and flat as the 26 Nosler can be.

If elk is on the menu, then the 28 Nosler is probably a better choice, but you give up some "fast and flat" to get there.

JMHO

It's mostly for deer, but maybe one day I'll get a chance for something bigger. I didn't realize they were the same hull. Looks like you can go to a lighter bullet with the 28 and it should shoot as flat as the 26. Not sure

With a good hunting bullet (142grABLR) and correct placement, there is nothing in North America you can't kill with a 26 Nosler out to 1000 yards, except maybe a Polar Bear;)
