There are no "short action" Weatherby Mark V's.
There is a narrower action which has been used for many non-Weatherby calibers in the Mark V (270, 30-06, etc) and identified by 6 lugs on the bolt.
Otherwise every Mark V action is the same size.

My apologies. 6 lug, non magnum.
I referred to it as a short action out of habit due to the cartridge being a 308.

There are not many (if any) made for the 6-lug stock other than the Bell & Carlson. Even if you contact McMillan or similar, I suspect it will be a special order with full wait time. I don't recall any ever being for sale on a forum, eBay, Gunbroker, etc.
That's the problem. I spoke to McMillan and the wait is north of 6 months simply for an inlet on a flat top. The rest is apparently due to a lack of interest, according to Manners, in aftermarket stocks for the MkV. Although I don't want another BC, it may be the route I have. I'd rather do that than cut and cerakote the original.

Not inexpensive, whether you do his inletting at $375 or bedding at $750.
A B&C is not the worst option in the world, but if it doesn't come in the shape you want then the stock work will soon cost more than the value of the rifle. Just be sure you go into it eyes wide open.
Almost cheaper to rebarrel a 9 lug action as a .308 so you can use a production stock from McMillan.
I think I'm just going to keep the factory stock and have it cut down to my LOP, cerakoted and bedded. I spoke at length with a stock builder today and he said Weatherby MkVs are so expensive that people generally don't want to devalue the rifle by making changes and the demand for match/tactical style Weatherbys is next to zero.
He also said that McMillan is the only respectable route for an upgrade.
