I got two builds in mind for the winter. I have a Savage lrh in 6.5 Creed, and a Remington 700 adl in 308. I want to build a 7-08 for the 162 ELD and am wondering if it would benefit for from the longer mag in the Savage. I was thinking of building a 6.5 Creed with the 700 and 7-08 in the Savage. Or if it doesn't matter about the mag issue, it would be cheaper for me to keep the Savage 6.5 Creed which shoots extremely well, and build the 7-08 with the Remington action. What day you?

Only you can decide, but, i believe you answered your own question. Experience has taught me over the years that if a riflle shoots good leave it alone. Nothing is worse that building a rifle that was a shooter and having it become a 1 or1.25 moa.
What kind of action do you have to build the 7mm/08.
Model 700's , the 78 or the 788?

I would rebarrel the R700 SA. Mainly because I hate the .308 Win....and the 6.5CM is already a shooter.
Have you thought about a 7-08AI? Just a question. Gain a bit more HP.

Yea, I am thinking about the AI, my biggest concern is mag length, I don't want the 162s shoved down past the bearing surface. I thought maybe someone has a 7-08 on a Rem short action and knows if it's a problem or not.

Here's 7mm-08 Ackley 162 eldx loaded to 2.8". I have some 150 and 168lrabs and 168 Bergers if you want to see what those are like too
