N570 Powder Shortage?

195 Berger

Sorry, I personally feel N570 is your best bet and it is impossible to find as you have already found out. I just started to play with RL33 for bigger bullets in my 30 Nosler. Maybe I will do a temp change comparison between the two.

MOA Rifles, where I bought my 28N, prefers N570 but they are using Retumbo to test / shoot for groups and to develop recipes for each rifle.

Mine uses 77.2 grains - they used 77.5) to get to 3040, which is where my gun shoots well and hits the same 3040fps they achieved.

But I can't find N570, and it is $10+ per lb more expensive.

I shoot 85grs of RL-33 behind the 195 Berger in my 28 Nosler.
26' Bartlein 8 twist gives me 3111fps average

I've not notice temp movement, but I don't shoot it in any extreme temperatures.

IMR 8133 has performed beyond expectations in my 338AX. I'll be shooting it tomorrow in 93 degree heat to finish testing the temp stability. From 45 degrees to 75 degrees it showed .66 fps per degree, which is outstanding for a powder this slow and in such a large case. It also burn very clean compared to other powders in it's class.

Have you compared it to N570 or RL33 velocity wise?

The 28 Nosler 195 Berger combo seems to shoot well around 3050. I used N570 and a buddy used RL33. Powder charges were different, but at 3040-3050 it shot great. Using retumbo or 8133 should get you there without to much trouble. The N570 shortage is why I switched to a 30/28 Nosler and run 85 grains of H1000 and 215 Berger.

Talked to a place where i was able to get it before and they told me that Hodgdon used to bring it in through the US but dropped it and they dont know who is now or if anybody is.
had a bunch, like 20 lbs ordered through Graaf and sons. got it this last summer. only about 3 month wait.
