Primarily Rock Chucks but some coyote too. Looking for accuracy first. High BC and explosive effect very important too. Hornady 95 Vmax? Other choices?

Thanks for your inputs!

95 v-max is the exact opposite of high bc....however I have used them for fireforming in my 8 twist .260 AI. Very accurate and explosive. I tried the 85 Sierra varminter's as well, but if my barrel got warmish they would come apart prior to impact. Very, very accurate before that though. Any of the light bullets are going to suck for wind drift, I shoot prairie dogs here in Wyoming, and if we have a stiff breeze of 15 mph or so, beyond 400 yards impacts are simply luck.

If your wanting to get out to 600+, I would just use a 130 or 140, probably an eld-m. I know they blow up p dogs. 140 Bergers are also explosive on p-dogs. If you shoot in wind past 400 yds, it will really help. But, if your after hold on hair and shoot, and inside 400 nearly all the time, 95 v-max loaded fast should get you close to hold on hair out to 350ish for a coyote. I'm assuming your using a creedmoor, .260, or something along those lines.

Here is a video of my .260 AI with 140 bergers killing p-dogs, all but the first and last two kills. Those were with my ar-15 and 55 grain v-max. You will see how much damage the Bergers cause. Also, pardon my commentary....I get all giddy when I blow up p-dogs ha ha

That's awesome. I wish we had p-dogs sro d here to blow up. I do get a few woodchucks but its not the same splat effect as those p-dogs.

95 V-Max @ 3450 from my 6.5 SLR literally pops jackrabbits and cottontails. Coyotes act like they have been electrocuted. Exit holes are from non-existent to violent. Very accurate in my rifles. Thinking about loading them in my 6.5SS, but not sure if they will come apart at expected velocities of 3800+.

Phil, I am all about 6.5 accuracy and shoot hogs out to over 1500 yds. I must use the 140 grain Hybrid Bergers to make really long possible. Any closer, there is an app for that! Explosive? No, if I can anchor them at serious distance, they will not mutilate at closer. That does not mean they are not DRT though. I would be shooting myself in the foot by using the small stuff out of a serious Ackley.

the 107 tmk is fast, flat, and incredibly accurate out of my 6.5 creed. I can push it much faster than the 3112fps I run it at.
