Never shot any Matrix, but I've shot thousands of Bergers down range... I'd like to try some Matrix bullets someday to see what all the fuss is about...I hear good things, but for now, I'm highly satisfied with my Bergers.

Like the title says...
I'd also like to know your experience with each and what calibers you've tried.
I have never shot Matrix bullets so I did not cast a vote. However, from my limited experience with them, I have no confidence in the Bergers as an effective long range hunting bullet; so I am on the hunt for another hunting bullet that has the matchlike accuracy of the Berger.

Check out matrixballistics.com, they've got excellent 6.5mm and .277 offerings and will even offer to bond them if you like ;)

Bergers just because I've also never shot Matrix. I have shot the 210 VLD in my 300 WM with great results (it also like the 200 and 212 ELD-X).

You know my choice Wil! The 150 matrix out of my 6.5 SS has killed game including a moose at 906 yards! The bear you shot made it about 20 yards, right? Not sure a Berger would improve on that. If I remember correctly, you broke both shoulders on the bear at close range. That's darn good penetration and mine expanded on a moose at 906!

Took a look at them. A 160 grain .264, I like it. What do you think the 6.5ss would push that at with a mild load Rich? Also, what's core bonding?

Max at 3100 so 3000 would be reasonable. Core bonding is a process that bonds the lead to the jacket which maitains bullet integrity during expansion. Usually an acid process.

I also shoot a 300 WM and am getting ready to test some 212 ELD-X's. Was curious how you seat the bullet with those. Touching the lands? Jumped?

All three shoot really well (.3-.5 MOA) at .02" off the lands. I'll admit that I haven't done much experimenting with the seating depth on that rifle, for my purposes, as long as I hit .5 MOA or less I'm fine with it.
