25-284 build

and honestly, if these are a real thing that become readily available, I'll probably look into either making my 25-06 into an AI with the next barrel, or maybe a the 25-284. I'm really hoping this catches. I can only imagine if it does and Sierra and Berger jump in the pool, then the 6.5creed will take a back seat to the 25cal crowd.

Response from Rock Creek on barrel lead time

We can make the barrel you are looking for, but our current lead time is
around 6 months; we are currently running an order of 7.25T .257
barrels, but all of the steel we have is spoken for from the customer,
we will be getting more bars ready so we will be able to make another
run, but we are unsure when that run will be.

Thank You,
Russell

I know K&P will make pretty much any twist you want. cut rifled SS. they are very good barrels. My current 25-06 is a cut 1-9" KP. Started easy and continues to hold accuracy as the round count climbs.

Tag. Just in time. My Bartlien 25-06 is just about ready to replace.

Does any one know if the 25-284 has the longer throat of the Norma version or does it have the shorter throat of the Win version?

TIA

I think if you're going to do a 25-284 for the 132 gr VLD in this thread, you will want a longer throat and probably a long action.

I apologize that I did not know about this thread. As some have mentioned we have been busy and I was out of the country in England/Scotland for a little bit.

The Blackjack Bullets 131 gr ACE will be here in July and we will begin taking pre-orders for the Krieger, Lilja, & Bartlein barrels starting Wednesday 6/27/18.

The bullet is a little beast with the 0.330 G7. The 25x47 is VERY efficient and we went to 2950 fps with zero signs of pressure in 26" 7 twist barrel. The 25 Creed was a little hot at 3000 fps and showed shiny ejector marks at 3050 fps.

Still at 2985 fps the 25 Creed and 131 ACE pairs up to match the 284 Win running 180 gr Hybrids at 2900 fps which requires running VERY HARD and/or a long 30-32" tube. That combination has set a lot of records and won a lot of medals.

We have 3 Rock Creek 1:7.25" M24 contour blanks not spoken for yet that will go up on Wednesday but if you really want one please PM me and I will go by whoever messages me first or a timestamp on this forum. You guys are the ones who are willing to support High BC 25 Cal and I want to support that. The Rock Creek 1:7.25" blanks will be $330 shipped. The one we have on the 25-284 shoots lights out.

In the next 4-6 weeks we should be receiving 65 to all 165 blanks we have on order...

Yep. We know how slow the market is to move on things like this, even when the ballistic comparisons should incentivize any competitor or enthusiast to make the jump, so we are ALL IN so to speak.

I'll post some ballistic charts that have come up in discussions the last few days on FB and other forums.

If'n I had the cash, I would put down for a Remington-style fluted 26" Sendero Bartlein 5R 7.25" twist to keep my Sendero "clone" look going on with my .25-06 AI. It looks factory-ish...But I did that on purpose. Don't let the looks fool you, she's a custom...And a hell of a shooter, too. ;)

DollarHyde is supposed to be sending me out a couple of the 131 ACE bullets to mock-up some dummy rounds for the .25-06 AI 40º for me to get some specs on, for yall to setup your reamer. But that was last Wed, and I haven't heard from him... You don't happen to know if he's send those out of not yet, do you? I know you said you've been out of town...Just curious.

What about these new bullets for 25-06?

They are 131 grains and have a 0.330 G7 BC (0.645 G1). They run a lot faster than many 25 Cal bullets due to design differences as most of the older bullets are mostly bearing surface area in relation to total length. We have not shot them out of a 25-06 yet but we have run them out of a 25-284 to 3202 fps. You can see that ballistic chart in this post just a few posts above this.

These bullets will require a 1:7.25" twist in standard cartridges and magnums that can run them over 3200 fps we recommend 1:8 twist.

You can pre-order blanks that are coming in from us starting tomorrow or you can order your own from Bartlein, Krieger, Lilja, Rock Creek, or X-Caliber.

Get all the ballistic performance of 180 grain class 0.284s with A LOT less recoil. Get more barrel life and ballistics than the 6mm. All around it's just a good balance of advantages.
