.25 cal 131g .330G7 bullet from Blackjack Bullets for you to drool on ...

Been there done that! They are a noisy bunch that cry about no high bc bullets but none are willing to put a barrel with a fast enough twist to stabilize a high bc bullet on their rifles. Somehow they think it should be possible to make a high bc bullet that will stabilize in a 10" twist. Ain't gonna happen.

Not necessarily Steve. It's not a personal vendetta. It's just that most of us live in free states, and don't need or have to shoot copper monos. A "heavy" copper mono requires even more twist than a heavy cup & core lead jacketed bullet. And monos cost more.

Everyone wants to bitch about the 1/4-bore guys, but nobody has anything in stock, so how can we just go online and order it? Blackjack sells Bartlein 7.25" twist barrels (only people I've seen openly advertising them).... Not in stock. Blackjack sells 131gr bullets... Also not in stock in ANY quantity.

Not sure what you mean. High bc 1/4 bore bullets regardless of material don't exist for 10" twist. 7" twist barrels are available. We built a 257 Weatherby with one.

Fellas,

It's true. There's an affordable High BC and extremely efficient for weight 257 on the market, and we've done the legwork of getting blanks available in one location.

We've been working on this project over 2.5 years - our first tech drawing was created a little over 2 years ago and although the design has undergone a few revisions it ended up 0.032" longer and 0.8 grains lighter than the first draft.

The production run of bullets will be available for sale in mid-July!

We have 95 "fast twist" barrels coming in the next few weeks - 20 Bartleins, 20 Kriegers, 25 Liljas, 10 Rock Creeks (which will be shipping in 1-2 weeks), and we will finalize an order for 100 X-Caliber blanks in the next few days. We actually have 4 Rock Creeks that are not spoken for so if you'd like to reserve one of them hit me up on Facebook at facebook.com/blackjackbulletco. We will begin taking reservations on the Krieger Blanks next Wednesday the 27th when they are listed "in-stock" on the website.

Anyhow, we have spent considerable time, money, and energy getting these fast twist blanks to be available before or at sales-launch of the BlackjackBullets.com webstore. We have also ordered 25 Creedmoor and 25x47 Lapua reamers from Manson and JGS to get all of the best Tactical/Match gunsmiths ready to chamber as barrels arrive.

We tested the BC over two days shooting across an Oehler 88 System (dual chronograph + TOF) running the 131 grain Blackjack ACE out of a 25x284 using H4831SC (This information and more is on Blackjackbullets.com/news).

Running the 131 ACE at 2940 fps the 1000 yd average was 0.330 G7. At 3140 fps the bullet tested out at 0.333 G7. Not too shabby. During the tests we had switching winds and still kept 1/2 MOA on 4-5 shots at 1000 and when we finished strings with 10-12 shots they were still sub MOA even with me and my shooting partner way out of practice since I've been working and doing business stuff and he's been busy in the machine shop.

It's a great bullet and we can't wait to get them out to you guys. For you guys sitting on the fence, there will be A SECOND Blackjack 257 bullet hitting the market in 8-10 months which is specifically tailored for Long Range Hunting. The 131 ACE will work great in many hunting cartridges but was specifically designed to maximize the ballistics of 25x47 and 25 Creedmoor from short action magazines. The combination of barrel life, BC, and Velocity is truly hard to beat in 2.880" short action magazines common to "match" rifles.

Anyhow, there will be more load-development, product announcements, and news being posted on the facebook page, website, and here on Long Range Hunting.

I just activated a new account here 257 Blackjack so if you see a reply from that account it is the eventual sponsored account I will be taking up once it's activated.

Thanks!

Steve,

You did your part but can't satisfy everybody and I for one is thankful.

Guys setting around with a 25-06 that's on it last leg, with brass, dies, etc. Might be interested in these. That's my situation. I'm interested to see how things work for them with a standard 25-06. If it's looking good. I might rebarrel to 25-06 or 25-06AI with a 7 twist.

Not really interested in all of their short action setups though. I find it interesting that they created and tested all of those before testing with the old school long actions.....

From a sales perspective the Match community used to be small but is now EXPLODING - weekly local matches, monthly state matches, more national matches than anyone could hope to attend. Most of the Match shooters use Bushing Dies which can easily turn 6.5x47 Lapua and 6/6.5 Creedmoor brass into an immediate 257 variant. These guys shoot thousands and thousands of rounds a year and since getting 25 Caliber bullets to market is a challenge we started with the high volume shooters so a smaller population of guys would help us be a viable business. (50 guys and barrels x 3000 bullets per year = 150,000 bullets as compared to the 750 guys and their barrels it would take shooting ~200 rounds per year). We knew we'd need 75-100 barrels to make this work so we ordered roughly 100 high-end blanks and will be getting another 100 more affordable Rock Creek & X-Caliber button blanks.

On the flip-side there are millions of hunters and long range hunters but often they do not shoot 5000 rounds a year and many only shoot 20-100-500 rounds per year out of 25-06, 257 WBY, 25 WSM, 25 Gibbs, etc.

Of course in reality we are providing a great bullet for both markets. But we made sure the 131 fit Match Rifles and 2.880" magazines as a primary design parameter - the mass and length of that design work well in long actions as well. Similarly the Long Range Hunting bullet we will be releasing will outperform all of the Target 6mm's, and most of the 6.5's. : )

Soon enough Blackjack spec 25-06, 25-06 AI, and 257 WBY reamers will be on the board for order at Manson and JGS and we will have a few to rent out.
