Looks like someone is listening... Affordable cup & core HP .257 cal 132 grain .330 G7 BC bullets should be coming VERY soon... I think now we're gonna need some reamers and dies for the .257 Sherman and .257 SS...

By the way, a 375 Sherman is in the works. I'm guessing it will run a 300 grainer at 2600. This in your daddy's ol '06 Remington action

What bullet(s) do you plan to design this cartridge around? Depending on the bullet chosen, I think 2600 is a conservative estimate with a 300 grain bullet.

Book loads for a .376 Steyr show 2500, using relatively fast powders like H4895 and BL-C(2). A good friend of mine has a Steyr with a 24" barrel. Case capacity is right at 66.0 grains (pretty much identical to .284 cases). I haven't taken any measurements to the lands, yet. But, if there is room to load long, I don't think 2700 is out of the question for that rifle (with the right 300 grain bullet).

A 375 Sherman should have a good bit more muscle.

I actually agree with that but not sure which bullet the "anonymous" builder is choosing and we know how large a role bearing surface plays, so I was being pretty conservative! With the 338 capable of 2700 with the 285 in the same case, it likely will reach 2700 with a larger cross section pushing only 15 more grains. Should be a hammer on an '06 head size! The builder has a brownie hunt coming up this fall. Should get some good field data!
If it does make 2700, that's crowding 2 1/2 tons of M E!

That info has not yet been divulged. But once I get more info I will let you know.

Cutting edge 300gr MTH would be a good choice for the 375. The MTH has had good results on big game up close and far, and has a higher bc in its weight class for the longer shots.

If that 130 gr .257 is true, I'd definitely consider going with a 25 SS. A fast quarter bore is too fun to pass up.

Yep... All I need is a 7-twist .257 blank, and Rich to send me a .257 Sherman reamer and dies... And I'll turn my .25-06 AI into a switch-barrel, that way I can swap back and forth at-will. And with the SB setup, in the future all I will need to do is have barrels threaded and chambered to a few counter-bore & headspacing specs, and I can order pre-cahmbered barrels and have them sent ready to be screwed onto my action.

Which is an idea I floated by Rich a while back...Having pre-chambered R700 (and 700 clone) barrels (sporter & Sendero/Varmint contour) in Sherman cartridges. Anybody else think this would be a cool idea?
