Hunting Suppressed

I am wondering how many in the hunting hunt suppressed.

I am wanting to know if it is found to be beneficial or not.
If you do hunt suppressed, what caliber are you suppressing and what can are you using?

I shot my moose last year with one, hunted the whole time with it on. Had electrical tape over the muzzle. Worked fine, killed a moose at 10 yards with it. But I shoot this rifle suppressed pretty much exclusively,

My take is if you typically shoot the rifle with one, then hunting would be no issue. But of the flip side. I love shooting my sheep gun suppressed, but stopped doing it, because I won't ever hunt with it on. Just a weight thing...want my load workup and data to be in the configuration I will hunt with it.

If I ever buy a suppressor, I would certainly hunt with it, why wouldn't you. Even on a mountain rifle, I would figure how to reduce my overall footprint weight to accommodate the suppressor.

I hunt suppressed with 223, 6-47 lapua, 6.5-284, 7-300weatherby and 338 norma. I use tbac suppressors. Weight is detrimental if you hike far, but the animals spook less. A good friend shot a bull elk at around 500 yards last year from a herd of about 20 animals with a suppressed 7-300. The elk didn't go down right away so he put a second shot into it. The herd did not spook which I think kept the bull from running at the first shot. For most of my hunting I don't load the rifle or screw on the suppressor until I'm setting up for a shot.

I started two years ago. I've been hunting with a 22-250AI for varmints, hogs and deer (mostly doe) and love it. I've added a 65 Creed this year which the smith should be completing next week.

Both are 22 inch Sendero profile barrels. I feel like the shorter length and added barrel diameter helps with the additional weight out front.

Plus it keeps the overall length similar to that of a long range rig sporting a 26 inch tube.

I like it as some of my places are close to country houses and it's just nice to shoot and not have your bell rung.

I have a long rifle that's threaded with a break and I won't likely suppress it.

I hunt suppressed exclusively unless I am packing a long distance. Otherwise its better on your ears and MUCH better on your hunting partners! SiCo Omega

I use a suppressed AR for coyote hunting. Saves my ears. Only big game animals I've hunted suppressed are antelope. They're normally far enough away that I don't think it matters much one way or the other, and it's easy enough to put ear pro in while antelope hunting before taking a shot, so I don't do it much. I just happened to have that rifle sighted in with the suppressor on when I went hunting.

I will eventually get a Ultra 7 or 9, which ever one I can find first. Ive heard nothing but good things. I know some people shoot the 5. I would think that is a good middle ground for weight and sound.

10 yards is an over estimate I'm sure, LOL. It was close, had a 5-22 NXS. Shot was just looking at brown, and center mass. Came in looking to fight.

My sheep hunts can be a lot of miles, armed hiking. 12 ounces....I'll just pop in some plugs, unless you have put on 50-60 or so miles in a 7 day hunt, you might not understand.

I have a 7 ultra and a 7-inch sass? like them both

I shoot an ultra 7 and love it. Planning on another one day.

I've heard the 5 is hardly worth the money considering it still has a fairly sharp report.

I hunt and shoot suppressed exclusively... I don't care about the few ounces a can adds. The added length can suck at times, but O-well. Being able to hear and not have to worry about hearing protection is worth the length issue. Plus if you shoot and zero with a can and shoot without... Your POI is going to change and have to re-zero. I run an older Thunderbeast BA30 on my AR15, 243, 7mm SAUM, and my 300 Norma

This year, I plan on hunting more with my suppressor. I have an Eliteiron Bravo suppressor, it is rated for . 300 RUM/.30-.378 but got it primarily for my .30 LARA with 27" barrel. So far, I can readily screw it onto my .270 AI with 30" barrel; 2 .300 WM, .300 WSM, and 6.5 CM all of which have 24" barrels. I don't mine the additional weight and length.
