For $200 more you could get a Nightforce SHV.
Ha. More like $650 more. Used Vortex PST Gen1 with FFP are some great deals right now. I own a PST Gen1 and a Gen2. I actually prefer the Gen1. I shoot SFP scope but for coyotes a 4-15x50 in FFP would be awesome.

I just got the SHV 4-14x50 FF1. To say I am pleased and impressed is an understatement.
That one is a non illuminated second focal plane scope. Not even in the same ballgame.

For a coyote gun, lower power is better. Dogs can come in fast and getting and keeping them in your sight picture is the hard part. Lots of good scopes out there at that price point. Pretty much anything that's somewhat durable and simple will be more than adequate. A VX-2, 3x9 Leopold with a basic duplex would be great. One with a fire-dot might be better. 2nd focal plane IMO is a better choice for this purpose. If your interested in the wind-plex reticle, I'd strongly urge you to look through it before purchasing. Way to busy IMO.

Bushnell 4500 4-16X. Has the hydrophobic coating and very good glass. Dials the correct amount.

I second the lower power thing. I can't count how many times I have had a dog come charging in on me ignoring my whoops and squeaks. When that happens its always easier to find them in the scope at 3x or 4x than it is at 6x. For a long time my low end magnification on my coyote guns was 6x, usually a 6-24x or something like that. Now most of my coyote guns are 3-15 or a 4-16. I always keep it on the lowest power during a stand. Only turn it up they dogs get hung up and won't come into the call. I also really like the viper PST, I prefer second focal plane. I have had a couple FFP's and don't like them. Personal preference. I also have the hs-t on one gun - same as PST without the illumination. I do a lot of spotlighting at night and haven't found the illuminated reticle useful. All of my coyote guns are zeroed at mpbr around 300 yards. I recently purchased a sig whiskey 5-25x52 with the triplex hellfire reticle used for around $700 to put on a new 204. I am excited to try it out - glass seems better than my PSTs. You might take a look at SIG.

For $600, there really isn't one better than the SWFA 3-15. But, for coyotes, I think illumination will be helpful.

2.5x10 or a 3x15 are probably the best sized scope power ranges...a 50mm objective lens also most prefered...a good Leupold, Bushnell Elite, maybe even an HD Vortex, can easily be found around 500-600$ on this website blog/classified..you'll easily have a 750-800$ value quality glass....Find the best bullet weight for your caliber/twist and buy 100plus rounds n zero her in at 200 yards.
You can buy a Burris Veracity FFP 3 X 15 X 50 with the 30 mm tube for just under $600 new in the box with the lifetime warranty off of EBAY every day of the week. I use this on 2 of my riffles set up for Elk and they work well out to over 500 yards. I use the 4 X 20 version of this scope on my Antelope rifle and can exceed the 600 yard marker with this one. There is better glass out there but these work well and allowed my to put some extra $$ into a good range finder. This is a good setup for me to hunt with but I eat what I shoot.
