I recently aquired a vintage Winchester 70 in 375 H&H. My buddy has a set of dies he inherited so I have some at my disposal. I got a half a box of Federal 270gr soft points from the previous owner.

I'm looking for bullet, brass, and powder recommendations. I have seen Remington and Hornady brass available from Cabelas for a reasonable price. But have no idea on projectiles. Any first hand experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

It depends on end use. If I wanted a one load combo, target, smaller big game, and bigger big game at a little range I think the 248 Hammer is the best one bullet solution currently.
Dangerous game up close, and personal either the Hammer 275, or 299 Sledge Hammer would be my choice.
Price wise the old Hornady 270 Interlock generally good service, in most rifles, in most situations. I have seen them come apart, but for a large percentage of .375 use it will get it done.
Most .375"s I've been around end up having a bit of bullet jump. They can also batter the tips off, and push bullets back in the case. A little more neck tension, or crimp comes in handy.

If you only want to use it for large game, bears, elk and the like, any 270gr bullet is a fair bet.
Before I re-chambered to the 375 Weatherby, my favourite loads were with 760 or H4350 powders in Remington brass with either the 270gr Woodleigh PP & 300gr Woodleigh PP.
For sambar deer here I use the 260gr Accubond @ 2980fps in my 375 Weatherby, this is so accurate that 400mtr shots are often taken.

I use WLRM primers exclusively in this cartridge.

Cheers.

If you want a load just to sit and shoot without getting beat up look in the Hornady book .I sent my load in to them for the 220 gr flat nose. It's for the 375 Winchester ,but I made up a load with IMR 4064.One hole at a 100 yards 1 inch at 220 yards..It goes over 3000 fps which is to fast for hunting .but there is a reduced load in the book for that.Recoil is like an 30-06.Using Winchester brass and 215 primer's

I've got a Win., Model 70, that I bought new about '81 or '82. My load is a Hornady 270 SP, over 82.0 grains ( a little over listed max.....tho listed as a max in an old Hornady manual), in R-P brass, with CCI mag. primers. When taking my time, it can shoot a ragged, one hole group at 100 yrds. At H&H velocities the Hornady 270 SP, is a fine bullet for most any large game.
In my .375 AI, pushed a few hundred fps faster....it seems to expand very rapidly, loosing about 35%( or a little more), causing penetration to be reduced. It is superbly accurate in my AI, but I went with a different bullet that offered much better penetration.

I would highly recommend the Hornady 270 SP, for the H&H!

I'll have to look into that

I'd run 285-300 grain bullets in her if you want accuracy. I had a 375 m70 super express that shot well with 300 hdy rn and rl15.
My current 375 eats a 300 tsx and 4320 or a 285 speer gs and rl15...

Norma brass, Barnes 270 or 300 gen pills. 4350 or 4891. All have served me well.
