243wim long action

Hey guys need some help. I already have a rem long action that i have been wanting to use. I'm already set up for 243 so i thought why not people shoot 260 in long action with long bullets. What trouble might i encounter with feeding from long action mag? Also i like the krg bravo chassis system but it loos like it only uses acis cip la mags witch are even longer. Could they still possibly work? This will be my first build so I'm just learning. Thanks for any help you can provide .

A couple things come to mind. Is the bolt face diameter sized for the 243 Win case? You will likely have to adjust the feed lips to handle the smaller diameter 243 case.

If its a action that is of the 30-06 variant. You will be fine.

It would work the 115's with RL26 would be my choice but a 6x284 would be my choice for a long action if using 6mm bullets.

Both the 243 and 260 are based on the .308 case. Should not have any problem with feeding.

I fit a barrel I chambered for 22/243 to a Rem LA. The chamber was throated for the longer VLDs. I had to do a bit of creative thinking to get 'er ta' feed slick. Consider the 6mm Rem instead of the .243 Win. and you will have fewer issues.

Thats interesting. Thanks for sharing. Goes to show Not all long action are built the same. My Ruger M77 Mark 2 30-06 has no problems feeding the .243 win loads. maybe some of it has to do with the load ramp. It might also have to do with its control feed.

Nothing to do with the feed ramp. Just plain too much length for the rounds to reliably Ended up blocking the magazine and using a 'custom' made follower. In the end, my customer was happy. I hear lots of "I had no problems with short cartridge in a long action". Maybe their definition of "feeds reliably" are different than mine are. Your Ruger is CRF, the Rem a push feed. The rim of the cartridge is "eased-up" under the extractor as the bolt is pushed forward, controlling that cartridge , with a CRF. The push feed would feed the cartridge up and release it before it was up the feed ramp and headed into the chamber. It just wanted to go everywhere except where it was supposed to go.
