hey all,

wife is supporting the idea of knocking one item off my bucket list. I've wanted to shoot a free range aoudad for awhile so I'm looking at booking a hunt for 2019 or 2020. I can't spend huge amounts of money like $5000 would be max, $2000-4000 would be better. found a few places online that offer hunts around $3000/ person (brother is interested in going too).

just wondering if anyone on here has any outfitter recommendations.

Not sure where you live but I'd look to the far West or what's known as the Trans Pecos region of Texas. Really huge ranches with truly wild audad.

I don't have any outfitter names for you 3k is very doable and certainly within 4k for a good hunt.

i live in NW Colorado, but all the hunts ive looked at are in the trans pacos region which is where I'd like to go. My in-laws live in san Antonio so I've actually been around most of texas at some point.

Check out Westtexashunt.com they come highly recommended for aoudad. Yes this is my first post but it's finally one that I can actually offer some help with.

Mike at westtexashunt. He's a good guy. Hunted with him last year and had a great time and great success!! Let me know if you need another hunter to fill camp!!

so this is one outfit that caught my eye. seems like reasonable prices and good success. I see that hunts take place on different ranches and each ranch has a little different price. If you don' mind me asking which ranch did you hunt? what hunt (I see semi guided, fully guided and DIY are options depending on the ranch) you did? and what was the hunting like?

Thanks everyone so far.

Always wanted to go Aoudad hunting. Good luck!
We hunted the Indio. We camped on site and went the DIY route. The ranch is very rough and rugged , which I liked and apparently so did the Aoudad! We saw lots of sheep and several good rams. All three in our group killed good rams. Mike had a guide on site and he asked if we minded if he went along with us. Of course we said yes, so we basically had a fully guided hunt.

Book it, you wont regret it. And the offer stands, I'll fill a spot if needed. I'm only half a days drive from the ranches.

Try your luck with the lottery here in NM in Unit 32. Large unit with lots of state land and tons of Aoudad. I know a few areas and would be glad to point you in the right direction or Hell I will drag the camper down and we can make a trip out of it. Just be sure to bring an AR also, not uncommon to kill 50-60 jack rabbits in a few hours. Last tag I got there we were tagged out by noon on the first day.

hey NateV I'll keep you in mind. actually called Mike at WTHO today. sounded good. he was patient with all my questions and very professional. looking pretty hard at a semi guided hunt on the Indio ranch right now. got a few more outfitters to call though.

Remmy, I've actually looked at draw hunts in NM. for me with a family though time commitments are tough. I'm likely only going to get to do this once so I decided it was better to go with a guided hunt in a place with a high success rate even if it costs more.
