Well, I've finally locked down a 150 acre lease just SW of Llano. It's been about 10 years since I hunted in that area.

I was wondering how the 2017 season went for everyone in that area? Mostly hunting over feeders or find rub/scrape lines? Any recommendations?

Post up pics of bucks taken from that area if you have some!

Thanks

I hunt between Llano and fredericksburg and the 2017 season was not very good for deer because of the weather and the full moon timing. It should be much better in 2018 because not very many good bucks were killed and according to my trail cameras, they are still there.

Turkeys were slow opening weekend and nor responding to my calls
at all (I hope it is not my calling:)

Lots of pigs and coyotes to keep you busy though.

My buddy hit 4 doe last year down yonder. He's got a great brush guard. Bwhahahah. They don't call it the deer capitol without a reason. Coyotes have been a problem from what he's said. Congrats.

Hunted near Valley Spring, to the NW of Llano for more than 20 years. I do enjoy driving through there this time of year.

Yup, I was just down there 2 weeks ago. The bluebonnets were just starting to come out. I was down at Buchanan Dam doing some crappie fishing. It sure is an awesome area but I have public land elk fever now living in New Mexico.

J E Custom pretty much nailed it. We hunt around Pontotoc. Saw some nice deer but let them ride until next season. Hopefully we can get some rain this year!
Turkeys were also not coming into the calls youth season weekend. We'll try again this weekend.
Almost always pigs and coyotes to hunt.
