33 Nosler

Integrity. Honesty. Ethics.

Too bad Nosler doesn't value those things as much as they cherish their name-sake.

If they're being run by their marketing dept., the Board needs to reach down deep and set the record straight.

I agree.

I don't think Nosler will ever learn that lesson. There is to many people that just look at the bc number, get all excited and buy there bullets. Then never shoot past 300 yards.
Them saying that the 33 Nosler will out do a 338 lapua is plain stupid. Same with the 28 and 30 Nosler out doing the rum. It's not happening. While I like the Nosler case when Nosler says things like that it does nothing but make me think less of them as a company. I have a lot more respect for a company that puts out a good product and is honest about it's performance and specs.

I called them out on there Facebook page and they defended themselves saying it's just more efficient. It like ok it a thinner, shorter and overall small powder colum only way it's running with the LM is either witch craft or its running at a much higher pressure. I just don't get it it's a solid design no need to try and make it sound like something it's not. It's just going to disappoint the consumer when they found out about it first hand.

Smaller cartridges are pretty much always more efficient. Tough defense for their claim. Big cartridges always have diminishing returns, but they are bigger and faster.

Hey guys just wanted to say thanks for posting your ideas and opinions on the 33 Nosler, its very interesting to get folks opinions who work with these products in the real world! I Have been hunting with a .340 Weatherby for the last 20 years or so and have always found it more than adequate for my needs but as we all know THAT had to end so I sold it and purchased a 33 Nosler rifle, then I figured since I was obviously going OVER the edge I bought a Vortex Razor Gen II 34 mm scope for this rifle! Nothing but new stuff that I need to learn. I have the scope but still looking for 20 MOA bases and a good set of rings. Should be an interesting adventure guys.

The only reason I went 338RUM was the rifle came with plenty of new brass and bullets and a normal bolt face. $3000-$5000 for a good 338 Lapua was just too much $$$$. The RUM is all I'll ever need and shoots great. Mine is a LSS LH about 15 years old....the good old days of Remington.

Took the 33 nosler out for it maiden voyage today. It's a Christensen classic. Looks pretty good so far. Haven't loaded for it yet. Waiting on my 270 eldx bullets but I shot the factory nosler 265 gr LRAB and it shot MOA at 400 yards. They were 2760fps which is close what the box says at 2771 fps.
I'm hoping for 2800 fps with the 270 eldx.
I will try the 230 eldx also once I get some of them.

I have had my 33 since last summer, it will push a 265 LRX around 2700fps, I only see the 3000fps with a 225 with certain powders, with rl19 or 22 I get up there, but good old h4831 gets around 2850fps.

What does Christensen use for a mag length in their rifle? Be interesting to know what your oal ends up being, Nosler missed the boat on one thing, the 33nos case is the perfect length to run a high BC bullet seated so the boat tail sits at the neck shoulder junction and fit in all the rem/clone rem actions. That gains you a fair bit of case capacity to be able to seat that long. The nosler action is limited to 3.42" which means I have to seat everything pretty deep.

I have lots of room in the mag box. I can touch with 300 bergers and still be in the box. I will check it tonight and let you know.
I know the factory 265 ablr have a lot of extra room in the mag. Probably a good 1/4" or more. I will get some details for you tonight.
The factory 225AB were 3050 fps. Which is pretty good I thought.

Pretty interesting bullet to run would be the cutting edge 225gr Maximus. I plan to run the 260gr version out of my 338LM hopefully at 2900ish

Have to agree with you there, while I was waiting for the 33 to show up I played with the ballistic calcs and several different bullets. The CED 200mth came out with the best combination of wind drift/drop. The 33 is perfect for the 225-250gr range I think.

That and not that it's a deciding factor but lessened recoil with the lighter bullets. Best I can figure with the free recoil calculator is with the 260 vs the 300gr at their velocities is a 10% difference. Would really be positives all around if I work a load with the 254gr. Comparable B.C to the 300gr SMK much high velocity and less recoil
