Also, a few other options...
1. IF possible, I ask their location, and since my company has locations/branches/salespeople nationally. I ask if they can drop by and see the item and let me know if it is as described...Most honest sellers here say sure. I have had two not respond to this request on other sites at all and that told me it was bogus.
For the last Leupold scope i got, I sent my salesperson in Vancover WA the money, he picked up the scope, and shipped to me...
Of course this only works with Nationwide contacts, but it also helps flush out someone who does not want to be found even if you dont have national representation
2, You can always find a qualify FFL to talk to in their area, and then require the individual to take gun to that one. The ffl will call u and let you know the gun it legitimate, look it over and ship. I did that on another site, and it cost me an extra $25 for a gun purchased in Oregon to be viewed by the store owner. The seller was paying the shipping so i got the gun, felt good about the sale, and it only cost me an extra $25...better than loosing $1250
3. Lastly there are a lot of quality people here on LRH and in all parts of the country., After you get the city/state..ask if anyone near there that could view and confirm the product. May not work all the time, but many quality people here to help rather than rip off.
The buddy system here could work..
And as said before, just because they have 100+ posts doesn't mean they are legitimate..look at their posts, and see if they are bogus posts to build the numbers...
also look at the buyer/seller feedback.
