I have one of the new Cooper 92 Backcountry Light weights in 6.5-284 on the way. This will be my walking around gun but I would still like to be able to shoot out to 800 yards if need be. Being that it weighs only 5.75 pounds I don't want to put a heavy 2 pound scope on it. Any suggestions for a lightweight long range capable scope?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm currently saving for a leupold VX5HD 3-15x56. 22oz, firedot reticle, supposed to be great glass and one of the best for low light.

Look down about one page?? Another thread with the same heading. But I went down this same road. I only scopes that get you sub 24 ounces or so are the leupolds, sightron, swaro's. I'm sure a few others. I've had good success with the March.

And in the scheme of things, a 30 ounce NXS is not bad either. IMO my second favorite

Sorry I guess I should have searched before posting. I love my Nighforce NXS scopes but was thinking of trying to keep it around 20 ounces. I also would like to keep the objective size around 40-42mm so I can run it in low rings. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Was not being a "you should have searched first guy" Just that thread had a bunch response. If it not here, check down in scopes

Have you looked at the Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42?

I'm typically not a real big fan of Vortex scopes until you get to their high end stuff but I just bought one of these Razor HD LH 3-15x42 and I'm very impressed with the optics of it. They're supposed to have the same glass as their big brother Razor models and they are made in Japan like the bigger ones too. Vortex says they weight 16.5 oz and on my scales they were pretty close to spot on because mine was 16.6 oz.

Cabelas had them on sale for $599 but I think they are all out of them so you'll have to look elsewhere but they're worth taking a look at.

If you want a really lightweight scope to complement a light hunting rifle without spending too much, my opinion is that a 10 or 12X is the best option. Out to 800 yards this will be fine unless you're hunting mice.

I have eyed a march pretty hard a few times. Just so happens someone runs a stopsign or I need to replace a fridge or buy a new couch whenever I get to the buying stage.

Have you had one next to a kahles? I am pretty much sold on a 624i after shooting one a few times. The only March I have ever looked through was like a 60x and all I had to compare it to was my viper hst so it was like looking through privacy glass when I went back to mine.
