I have a 338 Lapua which was custom built for a relative by a really good gunsmith. The relative passed before developing a load. I inherited the rifle with a lot of bullets, powder and primers. I have RL 22, 25, 26, 33, Retumbo, H1000 and an number of others. I have Barnes TSX 225, 250, LRX 265's, Nosler Partition 210's, Sierra SPBT 250's.

Can anyone help me with some general idea of where to start to get a good group at 200 yards. Will test it out from there to longer distances.

Any help would be appreciated.

in mine I'm using RL33 , fed 215 primer , 300 gr Berger elite hunting bullets .

with these lighter bullets , RL26 looks like a good choice of powder .

I'd give RL26 , and the 250gr TSX a try . I start out jumping .050 and work away from the rifling .

I'd give RL26 , with a 210 partition a try . I start out jumping about .015

1) 92 grains h1000 hbn coated 300 smk lapua case 250 cci mag primer.
2) 93.5 grains retumbo hbn coated 300 smk lapua case 250 cci mag primer.

I use Retumbo and H1000 behind 250gr bullets. I've used the 300s. I just have a preference for 250s. My main bullet for the past few years has been a Berger, but I am looking to change.

What I have loaded now is Nosler Brass, 250 Berger, 94.2gr H1000, and Remington Magnum Primers. Theres plenty of load scattered across the internet to give you an idea of what you can achieve along with the lawyered books.

300 Grain Berger Elite Hunter, 91gr H1000, Lapua Brass, Fed215M Primers, 2815 fps. Start low and work up. Started at 89 went up to 92. I didn't see pressure at 92, but my groups opened up. You should find something in there that will work for you. I know a couple guys who shoot the 338 and some have had great success with Reloader 33. I myself, have not tried it.
