I'm thinking about building a 6mm creedmore. I have a rem 700 SA in 22-250 That I'm going to use to start. Looking at either a bartlein or krieger barrel.

Anyone have any thoughts on bartlein barrels. I know kriegers have a great reputation but I'm not real familiar with bartlein l.

You'll get a few opinions on who is #1. But, in my opinion, Bartlein is the #1 barrel maker right now. People do have their favorites. Never read a bad thing about a Bartlein. Never read a bad thing about Krieger either. You can't go wrong with either of those two. At the end of the day, when the rifle is build, you'd probably never be able to tell the difference between the two.

I'd buy either, especially if I found what I wanted in stock (contour, twist rate). Bugholes.com has a bunch of both in stock (6mm).

Maybe ask the rifle builder who they use. Thats frequently suggested on this site.

Broughton
Rock Creek
Brux
Bartlien
Krieger
Hart
I have used them all. Can't go wrong with any of them, but it seems all my rifles at press carry Broughton.
If your only choices are Bartlein or Krieger, flip a coin.
What will be more important is who chambers it for you.

Thanks for the opinions. Looks like maybe the biggest hurdle for me will be finding a good gunsmith to do the work.

What's the thoughts on grayboe stocks. I'm on a budget here. You know wife two kids that deal. I'm not looking for a match rifle to compete with just a solid rifle capable of shooting antelope at 600 yards.

if you rebarrel a rem 700 lr ( heavy ) ; or a sendero (lighter) you are right there. my senderos have Krieger barrels. depends on weight; the senderos are more money the lr are heavier.

I saw a document one time that showed Bartlein was used frequently by a lot of F class shooters. Hope I said that correct as I don't know paper target nomenclature that well, lol. I personally shoot a Shilen barrel with good results. I think you'd be good with a Bartlein or the others mentioned. Do a 5R and let her rip. Good luck

When you look at 300-600 benchrest PRS F class results Bartlein is the highest percentage right now. Add in Tony Boyer shooting them makes Bartlein the first choice

I had a new Bartlein 6MM 1-7.5 5r barrel on a trued Remmy 700 stainless action this summer. My gunsmith chambered it for 6x47 Lapua. It's turned out to be the most accurate rifle I own... I'll gladly buy another........ Idaho-5r

Ok you all convinced me. Bartlein it is. Going with a sendero contour. 26" 1-7.5 twist. That should stabilize the heavier 105 grain bullets.

The company I'm gonna have so the work uses bartlein barrels on all their rifles too.
