Anyone have experience using these? My questions would be with regards to the glass quality compared to the VXR's and also regarding the Firedot reticle. I had a Leupold Firedot reticle a few years ago and the dot was too large for my liking. I have two VXR'S with the illuminated LRV reticle and really like those.

I don't have the HD model but I do have quite a few of the VX-6's and love them all. My preferred reticles are the TMOA and B&C. The VX5 HD is also catching my eye. The glass on these is considerably better than the VXR's which I'd equate to the VX2.

I have a VX-6 3x18x50mm ,but its not the HD model. But regardless its glass is very very good. However the price on the new HD version i've seen as high as $1,800 bucks . No way would I spend that . Paid $925 for mine and even though it's glass is great, still over priced .

I have the flagship 4-24x52 VX6HD. So far, I am very pleased. The turrets track true and repeat just as they should and the glass is astounding. I'm also growing fond of all the additional features like the built in reticle level and the ZL2 adjustments. It's not the perfect scope for everyone, but it's a lot of scope for long range hunting. I have the Impact 23 reticle in mine.

Glass on VX 5 and 6 is way better vxr's. The glass is noticeably better than the vx3i too.

The new VX 5 are a great hunting scope, I highly recommend them

Thanks for all the responses. I have some NF NXS scopes also. Like their ZS and their NP2DD reticle. I dislike cluttered reticles. I like a plain and simple reticle and crank the knobs when I need to. Thinking I have a hunting rifle I would like to try one of the new Leupy HD's on if the dot size on the Firedot is not too large.

I just mounted VX6 HD 2-12x42 TMOA on my 280 AI sheep rifle. I haven't shot it yet but I really like it so far, especially the zero stop and the self leveling. TMOA reticle is very fine, almost too fine for my old eyes. I own several Mark 4's and really like them, I don't think I'll be disappointed if the turrets track as well as the Mark 4's.

Anyone having to send their VX6 in for Leupold warranty repair?
None yet and mine get used hard and treated pretty poorly with at least one of them being mounted on my truck rifles that either bounce around in the back seat or do the same nex to the console between it and the front passenger seat.

I'll have one here Tuesday with the firedot reticle and will let you know. I too am hoping the dot is not too big.

I have this scope also and have issues with longer shots as there is no parallax adjustment. You really have to devise a way to make your head position/cheek weld identical in every situation and shooting angle, especially when sheep hunting.

Have VX6 3-18 x 50 ZL with firedot windplex reticle and VX6HD 3-18 x 50 ZL2 with firedot duplex reticle. Firedot appears identical in both reticles and is very small at low levels of illumination in darkness but very effective. As ambient light level increases illumination must be set higher but the dot does not get excessively large as the eye adjusts to the greater level of ambient light. Regarding the post above; I also have a VX6 2-12 x 42 ZL with the firedot windplex reticle mounted on my Tikka M55 .243 and have shot 1.5 to 2.5 inch groups with it at 400 yds without any problem regardless of there being no side-focus. Upside of no side-focus adjustment is that its quicker to get a shot away. That said, if I were intending to shoot beyond 400 yds regularly I would probably go for the 3-18 x 50 due to magnification and light gathering ability.
