Nosler®, Inc. is excited to introduce the patriarch of the Nosler® cartridge family – the 33 Nosler®. The "33" shares the same parent case (404 Jeffery) as the rest of the family but fires .338 caliber bullets which are generally known for being tough on big game as well as having high Ballistic Coefficients and Sectional Densities for excellent interior, exterior and terminal ballistics.

The 33 Nosler is capable of propelling a 225gr AccuBond at 3025 fps and the brand new 265gr AccuBond Long Range at 2775 fps. That's 275 fps faster and 20% more energy than the 338 Winchester Magnum using the same length action and 25fps faster than the 338 Lapua Magnum at the muzzle while burning 18% less powder.

The 33 Nosler® is a SAAMI standardized cartridge making for consistent brass and chamber dimensions industry wide. Nosler will be supporting this new cartridge with Nosler® Brass, Trophy Grade™ Ammunition and naturally, their full line of M48 rifles in 26" barrel configurations which should be made available for delivery by the end of Q1, 2017.

The initial 2017 Trophy Grade™ Ammunition offerings for the 33 Nosler® are aimed at providing the ideal blend of velocity, power and downrange terminal performance and are listed below:
Nosler Trophy Grade Ammunition – 225gr AccuBond
3025fps & 4589 ft/lbs at the muzzle

Nosler Trophy Grade LR Ammunition – 265gr AccuBond LR
2775fps & 4545 ft/lbs at the muzzle
Nosler will also be offering a Match Grade Ammunition offering for the 33 Nosler detailed below:
Nosler Match Grade Ammunition – 300gr Custom Competition HPBT
2550fps at the muzzle

The 33 Nosler is coming! The 33 Nosler is the latest in the family of cartridges that began with the 26 Nosler several years ago.

This will be quite the "Elk Hammer' of a cartridge. My own last two bull elk were taken with the 28 Nosler cartridge...which is also very effective.

The 30 Nosler has also been very popular with my rifle customers since it came out 1 year ago.

And here I am in the picture below with Mike Lake of Nosler. He is the senior manager of research and development for Nosler. He has been very helpful in providing information and brass for pre-testing to me in the months leading up to each of these new cartridges over the last few years.

I will be building my first 33 Nosler rifle for customer Joe E. as soon as the Nosler brass is available. Mike Lake at the SHOT SHOW told me brass will be available around the end of January first week in February.

Nosler will post final load data on their website as soon as this first batch of production brass has been tested.

Nosler hit a home run with the xx-Nosler based on the 404 Jeffery.

Typically, changing case and body lengths slightly dumbs down the offering a bit but not enough to abandon the chamberings.

I love my versions. My reamers can be used to make SAMMI standard chambers but why would you?

Will be nice to see how well it fits and feeds in an unmodified 700 style action. Looks like a pretty good cartridge, not as powerful as some, but definitely packs a punch.

I converted a 300 RUM R700 to xx-Nosler with just a barrel change.

That's it.

Weatherbys require no work at all.

If it was a belted magnum, it will just work.

I have been .338 caliber hunter for 31 years .They hit way harder than .308 caliber rifles do .I hunt the lower 48 with my 338 win mag. And Alaska with my 338-378 Weatherby .These are awesome all around big game cartridges.I hope the 33 nosler makes it sounds good to me !

While Nosler may not have been perfect with the numbers from the 338 Lapua Magnum they were dead on on the velocity of their round. Withing 1% of my actual speeds.

That's pretty impressive. If I were looking for something in the 8mm range I might have to give it a try.

Already having 300wm's and 300 RUM's along with the .375Ruger I'd have a hard time justifying one but if I didn't this would certainly fill a pretty big niche.

There's certainly nothing on the continent the 33N shouldn't be more than adequate to handle even at long range with the high BC Hunting Bullets that are available.

I am at a toss up between this and the 28 right now. Have the action on order. Think I found the right stock. Let's hear some feedback from 33 owners

What information are you looking for?

I wrote that question without really knowing what I wanted answered. I'm investing to much money into this project, I don't want to choose the wrong caliber.(if there is a thing).

I am looking for someone to sell me on this round.

Combine this cartridge with the new .338 265gr ABLR offering and you'll have a combo that'll hunt anything anywhere short of the big pachyderms.

Well, I'm no salesman. However, the xx-Nosler line has a lot of good attributes and very few bad.

Bad being: the brass is pricey.

Good being:

Lots of bullets that are appropriate for anything larger than a rabbit. Though it is a big hole for some of the smaller stuff.

The cartridge can make over 4500'lb of power, so it is appropriate for anything in North and America. Probably lots of things in Africa as well.

Hand loads of course can be loaded to any power level desired.

I've been shooting a lot of 338 for the last couple years. Edge, 338/26-Nosler and 338-378. The Nosler is my favorite.
